I stayed at Flying Saddle in May 2023 during the Jackson Antler Auction. That weekend, Jackson hotels were already expensive, so I was looking for a less expensive option, and I didn't mind the drive. I have been in Alpine before, driving from/to Jackson, but somehow I always missed this hotel. First, it is a VERY CLEAN one. Easy to park, ice machine works, friendly receptionist, and great breakfast bar. My window was looking at the Snake River. and I was able to park my car also under the window. There are many pine trees, you can sit outside, and grocery stores and gas stations are within reach. I came here only to sleep while back and forth to Jackson and Yellowstone NP, but I wish I could have spent more relaxing days.

Arrived at this hotel and was pleasantly surprised. Good sized room with two sinks and a decent shower. Two comfortable large beds with clean linen. There is a hair dryer, an iron fridge microwave, and a coffee maker. The room is dated with dark carpet and curtains, wood chip wallpaper, and the furniture was a bit shabby, but generally we were pleased with the room. Where it went very, very wrong was when we went for dinner. The tour company had reserved tables for us several days before at set times, depending upon whether we had done the rafting down Snake River. We turned up at our set time, and there was a sign saying wait to be seated, but there was nobody around. We saw the 6 person reserved table so assumed we should just seat ourselves. Nobody came to see us for 30 minutes, and when they did, we were told in no uncertain terms that we shouldn't have seated ourselves and that they didn't know we were there. How the waitress didn't see six of us in a small restaurant is astonishing. The waitress took our order and we waited another 30 minutes for our drinks and water. After an hour and a half, we were served our starters, which were fine, and then the main courses arrived on hot plates. That was the only thing that was hot! The beautiful filet mignon with garlic mash and broccoli was stone cold. We asked for the bill, and they had added a 20% service charge £27.90. We agreed that we would pay the charge but wanted to speak to a manager to complain about the service and a very aggressive man arrived who basically said it was all our fault for seating ourselves and that we had to pay. We said we never intended not to pay as we didn't want the waitress to be penalised but wanted to complain, and he just shouted and treated us abominably. Virtually the whole group complained. Some walked out and ended up not eating. Others waited to be seated for over 30 minutes, and others like us got into heated discussions with this obnoxious man. The whole day was spoilt. Any decent company would have not only refunded the service charge but refunded the cost of the meal. Do not eat here, absolutely dreadful!

Our room did not look like the photos on the website. We were given a room in a seperate building back of the lodge. The room was not a ceprabke. Stains and very soiked furniture. The bed and pillows ,not great quality mattress. The worst was the toiket had a dirty ring that looked like it had not been scrubbed in weeks. How can this happened if uts supposed to be cleaned after each stay? I was most upset by how rude the male server talked to me at the table. His remarks always responding back with sarcasim. " you already told me" , "oh now your done?" After he took my half finished soup without asking if I was done. Im a great tipper for great service. I placed the amount plus a 10 percent tip on the ticket. The server seen me do that and had the nerve to say to my husband. Sir its 86 dollars and this is only 95 thats less than 10 percent. Are you okay with that? Annouced this to everyone could hear him at our table of guests! He s lucky he got that. Flying Saddle Dining was Beyond the most rudest server we have EVER experienced! In addition to the crappy room for a ridulous charge because they dont have to compete being the only place to stay around. We will not recommend to anybody.

Absolutely loved the Flying Saddle . Our room had a little balcony overlooking the river and had everything we could possibly need . The hotel has a swimming pool and nice seating area outside and though it's pretty remote it also has a proper shop where you can buy alcohol , food and gifts . In fact the lady that runs it was so kind ,she noticed I was English and offered to supply me with some of her own personal teabags ( pg tips) if I didn't like the hotel ones !!! The hotel foyer has coffe/tea machines that you can use anytime which was a really nice touch . And the best thing about the hotel was the free breakfast. There was loads of choice (continental) including little individual bottles of chocolate and normal milk and juice. Everything was so clean . I wished we had been able to stay more than our 1 night . It was definitely my favourite hotel of the 11 ones we visited .
