Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Wheeling at Highlands

The hotel is renovating but doesn’t say so when booking. We made last minute reservations as we were driving home. Room was ok but the refrigerator did not work. They are replacing all the mattresses as was evidenced by the stack of old ones out our window however, I can’t say much for the new ones. Definitely not up to Wyndham or even LaQunita ( where we stayed the night before) standards. Also contractors were working in the room above us through the night. Not banging but moving things around. When I went to checkout the clerk was getting in the elevator with a contractor and expected me to wait for her to come back. We wanted to get on the road so we left, it’s not the way to treat customers and consequently they didn’t know which room was vacant so housekeeping could start there. I would be reluctant to stay here again as there are other options close by. Also there is a prompt to tip the staff on their checkout site that I found presumptuous. I always tip housekeeping myself but as the room wasn’t up to par I didn’t feel in this case that it was warranted. I know you get what you pay for but the hotel is priced compared to those around. Wyndham needs to re- evaluate this level that they are putting their name on.

Adequate hotel for overnight stay. Bed and pillows were comfy. Free breakfast was very enjoyable. They offered omelet type eggs, sausage patties and Turkey sausage links, potatoes, cereal/oatmeal bar with toppings, fresh fruit, milk, yogurt, juices, tea & coffee, fresh made pancakes, assorted bakery/pasty items. Hotel is currently undergoing a remodel of common areas. New paint and carpet in hallways. Sadly, there was no carpet in room and we forgot to pack slippers. The shower head was awful. It sprayed all over the place, no direct stream onto your head.

The room was super clean. The shower was brand new. And the complimentary breakfast was great! I will stay here again next year for my daughter’s volleyball tournament. It looks like they are replacing the carpet and trim too, so it will be even nicer next year.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I arrived in the early evening to some warm cookies in the lobby while checking in. My room had a pull out sofa in it and there was a sink outside the bathroom that was nice to be able to get water from without having to get it from the bathroom sink. There also was a mini fridge and a nice gym for a good workout- Thank you Microtel Inn and Suites staff for a wonderful stay!

We are staying at this location right now. I can't say enough about this place! We were met by Cash the dog and his sweet human at the front desk! Every hotel should do this! We loved it. The room is clean and spacious at a great price. Texas Roadhouse is in the same parking lot basically and the hotel has gift cards for a free appetizer and the Roadhouse crew is equally as friendly and the food was great! We will definitely stay here again!
