Candlewood Suites Oak Harbor an IHG Hotel

The desk clerk that checked us in and that we later encountered twice again was the #1 worst and rudest employee of any business we’ve stayed at in many years. She even lied to us twice about supposedly not have any small bars of hand soap (the hotel only supplied the room with liquid soap which I hate) and that they had no bottles of water for Platinum members. The desk clerks the next morning said they had both and offered to get us these which of course I no longer wanted the soap as we were checking out. This is the very first ihg hotel we have ever gone to that didn’t give us bottles of water for being platinum members. Also the hotel was recently partly renovated and the toilet in our room was not attached fully to the floor so moved when you used it. A green night light at eye level near the bed in the separate bedroom was bright and never went out all night and as it was on the wall you could not cover it with a towel.

Our room seemed to be newly renovated. It has a kitchen, eating area, sitting area, and separate bedroom. Nice size bathroom with thick, fluffy towels. Everything was clean and fresh. Only 30 minutes to the ferry to Port Townsend and the Admiralty Head Lighthouse.

A summary of plus and minuses Plus + Friendly and helpful staff, got a change of towels daily (room service is optional) + Spacious room, nice kitchen, fridge, microwave. Clean and well kept + Quiet + Well stocked amenity room with coffee/tea. I would recommend adding some milk as well. Minuses - Mattress was a bit wonky, so I would say this could be better - If your room faces the front parking lot, the lights in the lot are bright so you have to use black out drapes in the night, which means you can miss the morning sunshine.

Very nice hotel. Would be especially convenient if you're staying for longer periods of time. The laundry facilities are free (you supply the detergent and dryer sheets, or buy them from the hotel). Very decent kitchenette in the room, with full-size refrigerator. The hotel provides grills if you want to barbecue during your stay. The room was clean and spacious, and there were no unpleasant smells. The bed was a bit soft for my taste (big pillow top) but we slept fine. The hotel provided both firm and soft pillows, which I've never seen before and really appreciated. The bathroom was nice. It was a really pleasant space to be in. The staff were helpful and kind. The hotel is easy to find and conveniently located for activities on Whidbey and Fidalgo islands. We had a great time here. Would definitely stay here again.

We traveled last minute with our two kids and two dogs. Jesus was so wonderful and accommodating. We called and spoke with him prior to our arrival and he couldn’t have been more kind and helpful. The room smelled very clean (it looked clean but the smell was very pleasant). Popcorn was provided for a snack, the kitchenette was well supplied, and the room in general was very comfortable. While the room was perfectly comfortable, I have to compliment Jesus again. We travel a lot and his level of hospitality was much appreciated. Thank you for making us feel genuinely welcome.
