First time visitor to Washington and could not have found a better place to visit/stay. The Inn, built in 1907, has so much character. A casual feel with exceptional service. The views are awesome! The location is situated for easy access all around the island. A must stay for first time visitors or those looking to getaway for a weekend adventure.

for wonderful dining and accommodations Captain Whidbey is a wonderful getaway from the big city but still close. I consider it a deal vs a trip oversees to see what people pay big bucks for and this is in our backyard from the Seattle area.

We returned to the CWI 42 years after our first date there. At that time, we stayed in a fully-furnished cottage by the lagoon. Now these cottages have been replace by Scandinavian style condos, rooms are quite sparse, without chairs or drawers. However, the king bed was one of the most comfortable beds we've ever slept on! The restaurant has an unusual menu, so be sure to ask about the dishes before ordering. Also, no green salad on the menu, but the kitchen made a beautiful one for me when I asked. Service is marvelous.

This is one of the worst hotel rooms in which I have ever stayed, and I have been in a great many the last seventy years. They are selling cheap as expensively as they can get awaywith and calling it rustic or something similar. Perhaps spartanesque. No TV, no microwave, no coffee maker, no hair dryer, no clock, no robes. Old electric wall board heater works fine though it gets stuffy quickly which is probaby why the bathroom window was wide open. We had to leave it that way for comfort. They a small coffee shop for breakfast and a restaurant for dinner only. The choices are limited to meat and seafood of four or five kinds and a mushroom dish for vegetarians or vegans at $31. Same with the appetizers - all animals but one dish. Our cabin was 102 and 103 was apperently being used as a kennel for guests' dogs so they could buy dinner at the hotel. Every other accommodation I have stayed prohibits leaving your dogs unattended but here they want you to buy food at their restaurant so badly that it's fine to leave the dogs alone. They barked both nights for hours. I called the front desk the first night. The dogs were incredulously loud. The front desk person said "Oh they're proabably eating". I said "No, they are barking - very loudly", then realized she meant the guests. This the only hotel I have ever heard of where its fine to leave barking dogs in a guest room so guests may spend money in the restaurant. The room itself looked worn and tawdry, with extremely cheap carpet. Maybe it was built at a time they lacked resources. The shower was nice. When you walk the fifty yards or so outside to the lobby for coffee you will need to walk back again if you want a second small cup. It was insipidly weak the two mornings we were there. Maybe good coffee is costly for them. If you like paying an expensive amount for a cheap room and have a good enough imagination to think it is "rustic" you'll be fine here. If you wonder how a place with an apparently good reputation has so many poor reviews, check it the cabins by the lagoon. But most of all, if you enjoy the sound of barking dogs next to you in the evening, this place is intentionally designed to provide that experience.

Historic Pacific NW gem. This place is beautiful, cozy, and charming. Visiting in May worked well, before the peak summer tourist season for Whidbey Island. Evenings by the lobby fireplace or making sāmores at the outdoor firepit need flannel shirts. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was delicious. My mom and I got separate rooms in the historic building, which I loved. If (when) I go back, the cabins also look cool. Tried the sauna and it was fine. Hotel is a quick drive from Coupeville but itās a fine spot to just hang out and relax, no tvās in the rooms. Unplug and chill.
