Heliotrope Hotel

It was located close to town but was quiet. The rooms were very nice and the staff were pleasant and helpful.

My reservation was for 2 nights but i had to leave after one (and lose over $200) because the bed was so soft I thought my back was going to break. The door to my room was in the middle of the lobby. If you don’t want that (who would) ask not to be put in the “Twin sisters” room. The pictures on the web made it look like you were in a green oasis. Instead you are in the middle of a lower middle class neighborhood. And, the earplugs in the room are for the nearby train. Th young woman at the front desk was delightful and extremely helpful but she could not make up for the rest.

Heliotrope is a great place to stay. We chose it because it was close to the family we were visiting but loved it because there is a market nearby, a nice coffee shop, edge of downtown. Rooms were clean. Bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly. Nice area to hang out it. Fenced pet area. We will plan to stay again and recommend it to other family members.

Excellent upscale converted motel close to downtown Bellingham. I stayed here 2 nights while traveling on business. The beds were comfortable, bathroom well appointed, there was very good coffee in the room from a local roaster. The room is divided into a living space and a small nook with desk and a mini-fridge. and The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. There were some breakfast food available, I only had coffee which was very good. There was no gym, but in the summer or when the weather is cooperating it's possible to go for a walk in the neighborhood (mostly residential) and there is a front lawn with games. I had very good experience overall and a welcome respite from a standard corporate chain hotel.

I stayed at the Heliotrope Hotel for 3 nights just before Christmas. Rooms are clean and pet friendly. I travelled with my miniature poodle and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The bonus was the pet run at back of hotel so your dog can have a bit of a run. I found all the surrounding streets are great for walking your dog too. Loved the neighbourhood. I got a huge thumbs up from the US border agents when they asked where I was staying. Loved every bit about my stay.
