Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Winchester VA

I returned to Country Inn and Suites Winchester expecting a repeat of last year's positive experience. Unfortunately, this year's stay was marred by significant issues. Despite GM Ms. Owens' efforts to resolve the initial booking problem, the check-in process and subsequent interactions with the front desk staff were frustrating and unprofessional. As a seasoned hospitality professional, I understand the importance of excellent customer service. Simple gestures like an apology can go a long way in resolving issues. Additional training for the front desk staff is clearly needed. Given these experiences, I'll be seeking alternative accommodations for future stays in the area. It's disappointing, as I valued the consistency of staying at the same place during my annual visits

Good location off of I81 – well lit, check-in was fine. Room average but comfy, very clean, wifi ok, no Bible (which I like), no TV guide, not even online for smallish TV, no pens or note paper, bare minimum. Needs some updating. Decent breakfast with eggs, sausage and the usual assortments. Price reasonable for area. Would probably stay again if in the area.

Our room was clean and spacious, and the staff was very friendly. The hotel was a little hard to find when coming off of I-81 heading south – GPS was a lifesaver in that respect – you basically have to go underneath I-81 to get there. While there were some road noises at night, they were not too bad, and the thick, light-cancelling curtains helped with both the light and any road noises. Comfortable beds – nicely raised above floor level. And the breakfast bar was outstanding - I had the best and easiest made waffles that I have ever had. There was a good selection of everything – bacon done right, and scrambled eggs were tasty. Attentive staff members kept the breakfast area clean and replenished throughout the breakfast period.

I had to contact Choice Hotels who owns this. It is NOT a Radisson, which is what I expected. Hotels.com gave me credit for the horrible time we had here. YOU have to: Go to the front desk every time you need clean towels, soap and other bathroom items, cups, coffee, etc. Make your own bed. Tie up your own trash and leave outside your room. They ONLY CLEAN the room every three days, so whatever snacks, coffee, etc. foods left in your room will germinate if YOU don't remove your trash. NO ONE told us that they do NOTHING in your room for three days; I guess the hotel is trying to save money by: Not washing towels, changing sheets or making the bed-- On the employees and on the supplies to take care of the guest's room? That is DISGUSTING and GROSS! We stayed for FOUR DAYS, so of course they won't bother doing anything to our room, even though the day before we left was the THIRD DAY. ("Oh, the girls thought that you were still in your room"), -- even though we spoke to three women at the same time AT THE FRONT DESK at 10:00 a.m. as we were leaving for the day! For what I paid, this was NOT worth it. There's a few motels around that were pretty full--that should tell you something about this place.

We were staying for 1 night on our way to Myrtle Beach. We had one room and our son and his family had their room. We stayed in the same hotel last year and had only good things to say at the time. This time around, we were not as pleased. Our room was a king bed. It was clean but needs updating. The bathroom seemed rundown, especially the bathtub. Last year we had a sofa and chair in our room and all seemed very new. We were expecting the same, after all, it was the same hotel. One year made a difference and we won’t be staying here again. As for breakfast, what a disappointment. Not much choice and the coffee was tasteless.
