Griffin Hotel an official Colonial Williamsburg Hotel

The rooms are simply just not up to par of what they should be for the price point. Rooms are very out of date and the overall cleanliness was just not at a satisfactory level. Location is great and very close to the Historic Area. I will look at another hotel for my next visit to Colonial Williamsburg.

As a Williamsburg property, they need to pay more attention to details. We had confirmed reservations for adjoining rooms, booked months ago, but they did not have them for us. My room was large and comfortable, but very dark. Not enough ambient lighting in the bedroom. The Bath had no window, and one of the two lights over the sink was burned out. Further, there were no grab bars, an essential safety feature. A little disappointing.

First, let me say that the Griffin is an older hotel. No elevator, a few dings in the paint, and guest services are handled next door at the Williamsburg Inn. But - our room was HUGE, overlooked a lovely pond with a fountain (and geese), a balcony with seating so we could enjoy the pond, a sliding door with screens so we could hear the fountain. It had a wing chair and sofa, a desk, plus plenty of lamps so we could talk, read, or work on the laptop comfortably. No sitting scrunched up in bed with a dim lamp! It was so quiet, yet a 5 minute walk to the heart of the Historic area. Not even that to the Inn, where you can experience the excellent and elegant services, dining,golf, and spa. I’m a longtime Colonial Williamsburg fan, and must admit that I am annoyed by the extraneous fees that have been tacked on - parking and resort fees, meh. But - I will forgive much for such a lovely, comfortable, quiet oasis so close to Duke of Gloucester Street. Our room was clean, with maid service each day. In room fridge and safe. The coffee machine turned out pretty awful coffee, and the toiletries provided are in small tubes. Some are Spa of Williamsburg, some not. Looking forward to a return trip soon!

This is a wonderful place to stay. The room is huge and overlooks a beautiful pond. You can walk to the town. The folks at the main lodge are fabulous!! A visit to the fabulous museum is a must! It's very interesting to see how everything folks needed had to be created.

The room was beyond clean and is always amazing. The view is amazing and the ambient noise is perfect for a young family. If you are looking for a place to stay that is near but not overwhelming, stay here. I look forward to returning to this location.
