This review's rating reflects the hotels airport shuttle service, in particular pick up at the airport. I've always liked Hampton Inns and have stayed in them in many cities and it's why I booked here this time. However this is the first time I had to use the airport shuttle service and the experience is far from good. The service is on demand only, which means you have to call as they don't make scheduled rounds like many others do. Which should have been fine - many hotels have the same system and it always worked. However it didn't work here because for over half an hour no one answered the phone. Then someone answered and said they'll contact the driver and put me on hold forever so I had to hang up and try again. Eventually the front desk answered and said the shuttle would be there in 15 minutes. It took another 30 minutes. Altogether it took almost 1.5 hours before I finally got to the hotel. When I asked why they didn't answer the phone I was first told they were busy, then they said I must have dialed the wrong number which made no logical sense because I'd only dialed one number and that's the same one that was eventually answered. So while the hotel room quality is similar to other Hampton Inns the shuttle service is shockingly bad. Bottom line - don't stay here if you have to be picked up at the airport. Plenty of other Dulles airport hotels have scheduled shuttles and those are much more reliable - we literally saw countless other hotel shuttles pass by repeatedly while waiting forever for the one from this hotel and wished we didn't make the mistake of booking at this hotel.

I have stayed at this Hampton Inn several times over the years. The hotel is clean, seems quiet and the rooms are functional. The staff is friendly. Breakfast is standard Hampton Inn with plenty of choices. With that said, the hotel is in need of an update. The furniture in the room is starting to get worn down. There are damaged signs in the elevator. The overall dark mahogany decor scheme of the hotel is a bit outdated at this point. Brightening up the colors would go a long way to modernizing this property. That would make the "bones" of this property even better.

I arrived late around 9pm. The shuttle driver told me to my face that he would not drive me and left me standing in 32 degree weather. I’ve never been treated like that and will ensure I choice Marriotts moving forward and use Uber if ever needing to stay with a Hilton or group of hotels using the same service. Thank you for not providing the service and leaving me and my family in the cold. What a joke and of course nothing but a half hearted response (if that) will ever come from the hotel or management about the incident.

Three rooms were booked for the inauguration. Due to an injury, we had to cancel our booking, 9 days before the date, I might add. They penalized us over $500.00 "due to the inauguration". They are booked solid, and our rooms were probably booked shortly after we canceled. I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a waitlist. We were told by hotel staff that this particular refund policy was a "corporate decision". We called the Hilton corporate offices who was no help whatsoever. Hilton has really gone downhill with customer service, and we will avoid them from now on!

Hotel room had heating issues. During a 2-night stay, the heating would run all night, trying to get to 74/75 degrees, but wouldn't/couldn't. There was something wrong with the heating in the particular provided room. Luckily, the bedding/comforters more than made up for the inadequate heating. Staff was great. Breakfast was okay. Had hoped the television in the room was a smart tv, but no. Otherwise, the hotel is just average, very close to IAD airport, but somewhat obscurely located.
