Red Roof Inn Staunton

This place is crawling with local prostitutes and drug addicts. There are busted up vehicles in the parking lot. The rooms are absolutely disgusting. It’s located on a dark back road. Definitely not a place you want to take your family. Very sketchy. Stay far away

Rooms are fine but check-in was painful after a long day on the road evacuating from Hurricane Milton. If these issues don't apply you might be ok: *Told that I could have the smoking, dog-friendly room I reserved...but not both. *Told that I would be paying $15 more than my reservation because Red Roof Inn now charges for dogs. *Asked how I made the reservation (RRI website), and the exact 6-digit code used for my AARP discount. Asked for my membership card and proof of my status as a Veteran. After all this nonsense I was finally allowed to register and get my room key. Not worth the hassle.

The family that owns this hotel cares nothing about customer service. We stayed 3 nights and received housekeeping services exactly ZERO TIMES The excuse was that my son was in the room. He was in the room briefly on the first morning but usually they return later to make up the room. The second morning nothing was done and the sullen woman at the desk claimed it was because my son was in the room again, which was an outright lie. This woman badly needs basic training in customer service. I don't think she knows how to smile. I said that the staff should return later when this happens only to be told they're much too busy for that. so I asked how many rooms each was responsible for and she had no idea. I then asked how she could say they were busy or not busy. She then said "I don't want to talk to you", and told me to call her brother. I seldom stay at these low budget dives for these very reasons and will be taking my complaints up the chain but am not optimistic given previous comments.

Those of us who stay in Red Roof Inns know generally what to expect: insufficient lighting, often a broken desk chair, unhappy front desk staff, and slow drains. But, most importantly, we expect a reasonable price. The Red Roof in Staunton, checks most of those boxes. The room was large, it felt recently refurbished, and the bed was comfortable, albeit a little squeaky. I appreciate the choice of pillows. The location, right off I-81 but otherwise in the middle of nowhere - i.e., no adjacent restaurants or amenities - allows it to have a generous area for walking pets and parking large vehicles. It even has a pool. My room was clean and decently appointed. Although the clock worked, the TV didn't, and there was no plastic bag for the ice bucket. The room did, however, come with a refrigerator and small microwave, as well as a coffee maker. It is a decent low-budget bet if you are traveling on I 81.

Location very convenient to Rt. 81. Property old and rundown,but in a safe area. Had to move from first room assigned due to moldy smell in room. Next room not much better- a/c unit vent filthy and lock on door broken. It is pet friendly, but you can tell they don’t like dogs! Staff not welcoming or friendly. Could be a nice place with a good cleaning and better customer service!
