This is a comfortable and convenient hotel. The breakfast is complimentary, although fairly average. The bed, shower and air conditioning are good. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The facilities are very worn and tired. A facelift is needed as soon as possible. The rooms are only cleaned every three days, so the rubbish can build up over time. I spent five weeks there and it was comfortable, but not luxurious in any fashion. Reasonable value for money

Water pressure was terrible and wall in room was nasty. I tried to check out early which I was told I would still be charged for my original stay duration. I contacted customer service and was hung up on. I even tried to switch rooms or have the shower fixed but after waiting 2 hours I gave up on it.

Absolutely wonderful one night stay. We arrived around 4pm to check-in. Front desk attendant was very polite and friendly. Room was very spacious, well kept and clean. Room looked to be recently remodel. Beds were very comfortable. Definitely would be staying again!

After over 60 days of staying at this hotel, I have seen everything. Let me start by saying that this hotel has (mostly) 3 types of guests stay at it. First, is the Mariners and Marine maintenance people that work at the port. They’re up early and stay up late and simply cannot be bothered by quiet hours. The next is the military people who are in town for work or moving to/from town. The last is the partiers. Every single weekend that I was there, there was some sort of party being hosted at the hotel. They were birthday parties, retirement parties, baby showers, wedding showers, retreats, pretty much any type of party. These people are extremely loud, smoke weed in the outdoor common areas, the stairwells (out of view of the MANY cameras on this party), and in their rooms. On the weekend, the elevators, hallways, and stairwells will stink of weed. In general, quiet hours (1000pm-600am) are not respected at all on the weekend, and loosely during the week. There’s a patio where the grill is located with a sign that states that smoking is not allowed and it is closed after 1000pm, but the place is a popular spot for late night drinking fests and is littered with cigarette butts. People frequently refuse to leave and the hotel employs a security guard late at night to address this sort of behavior. My best advice: AVOID rooms that are facing this courtyard. It is exceptionally loud as a result of the clientele that use the patio after hours. The hotel is located directly next to a Norfolk police training facility and police drive through the access road adjacent to the hotel, but that doesn’t seem to affect anything. People actually smoke weed in the walkway right next to the police parking lot and you can watch them as you work out in the exercise room. The hotel is located directly under the main landing strip of the Norfolk Airport in the evenings and take off strip in the mornings. At this point, I can tell you exactly what time each plane will take off in the morning and land in the evenings. The first plane TAKES OFF at 525am. You WILL hear it, and the next 10 planes that take off in the following hour. If you are not awake by 525am, you will be. Planes land as late as 1100pm. I grew up across the street from a train track and the noise coming from the planes under this hotel wakes me up every single time. If you have children that are even the lightest sleepers, they will be able to hear this. The hotel also faces a 7 lane highway, and if you are on the side that faces the highway, you will hear the cars driving over the train tracks at all times of the day. Housekeeping…it is supposed to come everything 4th day. In my experience, sometimes it would come after 6-7 days, sometimes it would come every 2. There really is no rhyme or reason to when they might clean or whether or not the towels they’ll leave will actually be clean. I once asked to have my room cleaned out of cycle of the 4 day routine and was told that since this is a “extended stay” hotel that they simply would not be able to, but I could ask for fresh towels from the front desk any time. There are a few positives…the breakfast staff is absolutely incredible. Despite people absolutely destroying the breakfast area in the morning and licking their fingers as they grab food from the buffet, they do an exceptional job of wiping tables down and keeping it orderly. The maintenance staff is all very nice and there are two very nice women who work at the front desk. Overall, I absolutely would never stay here in the future. This hotel is not the worst I’ve ever stayed at, but I did not enjoy my stay. Everything in my review above are things I have observed personally and is the basis for my recommendation. This is NOT a family friendly hotel and families should strongly consider the area, noise, drug use, and clientele before electing to stay at this hotel.

There was an odor in the room that we were assigned to. The coffee pot had a missing piece, so coffee could not be made. The carpeting had a pull type rip near the kitchen area. No hairdryer was in the bathroom. It was not as pristine as we would expect for a Marriott and for the price paid. So disappointing.
