Check in agent lied about complimentary welcome gift stating it was only for “Diamond Members”. Upon looking at the cheesy gift box sitting on the front desk it states “For Gold and Diamond members”. The check in agent had several of her family members standing on the side of the desk stating me down like I was in a foreign county. A/C unit in the room full of dust bombs, rusting and rattling. The hallway smelled like weed. Holes in the bathroom wall. Mold on the ceiling. Carpet floor black carpet sticky. Yuk. To top all this off, no hot water in shower. Probably due to the 1970’s fixtures that are still hooked up. In the AM, I forgot something in the room, and the front desk gave me a key to someone else’s room. Complete safety oversight! The airport shuttle driver was late. Not at all a Hampton experience, I guess expect Hilton to get this property and management at this hotel thoroughly reviewed.

I’m a loyal Hilton guest, and this was a disappointing stay. PROS: - Lovely, friendly welcome upon arrival - Large, clean room - The beds were super hard (we love this! — it may not be everyone’s cup of tea…) CONS: - No recognition of our HH status (admittedly we do find this is hit or miss at most Hiltons!) - Room was definitely a bit outdated - No place to hang hand towels in the bathroom (though we were given plenty of towels) - Only a teeny tiny gym — just three pieces of equipment, 4 medicine balls and a large exercise ball … not a single free weight! It was also very stuffy in the gym (no air). - Our floor (4th) smelt like marijuana our entire stay :( - I sent a message via the Hilton app with a request for the front desk, but staff never responded, so I had to go downstairs and speak to them - The bathroom light was attached to the bathroom fan — it’s great having a fan, but as they worked as one you couldn’t have just the light on … so the super loud and clanking fan was always running But the big clincher that won’t see me return here ever again? When I left my room at 6:30am in the morning to head out for a walk, I found a male non-guest (he appeared homeless) sleeping in the stairwell. I told the young woman at the front desk immediately and she simply looked me up and down, turned her head slightly to one side, and said “okay” — like this was a normal daily occurrence and no big deal. I mentioned that some guests may not feel comfortable with a non-guest (who appeared quite disheveled) lying in the stairwell and once again she didn’t appear to care (and clearly had no intention of doing anything about it). On my way out, I also noticed that the side door was not closed properly (it should catch and lock from the outside so non-guests cannot gain entry) — so if you’re someone who likes to feel safe and secure when they travel, this may not be the hotel for you.

We needed to be in the area and close to the airport to greet family. This hotel sits in a business park and on the weekends was a very quiet area. The room was spacious (King Suite) and the bed was very comfortable. The sofa in this room also pulls out to a make another bed if needed. There is a refrigerator with a small freezer, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker. There is also a sink with these appliances, which is very convenient. The desk area sits in the middle of the room, but is larger than many other hotels. Breakfast downstairs was a hot meal with the ability to make fresh waffles. They also had eggs, sausages, and other items. The area to sit was also spacious. The hotel has both a workout room and a pool, but our scheduling did not allow me time to use either of these. They look very nice though.

I arrived on a very late flight to Norfolk on July 1 and had to make last-minute plans to stay overnight. I wish I could remember the name of the woman who was working the front desk that night - I called just minutes before midnight and she was able to quickly book me so my stay would be on July 1 and not 2. She was SO helpful and kind and I was in the most comfortable king room as soon as I arrived - with her offer of a complimentary late check-out due to my very late-night arrival. I could not be more grateful to her for truly going above and beyond to make sure I had an excellent experience - even so last-minute. She was a treasure and I will absolutely be booking at this hotel (… not minutes before midnight!) the next time I fly through Norfolk.
