We stayed at the Quality Inn in Martinsville, Virginia, for two nights. Good News: 1. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. 2. Location was excellent. Bad News: 1. Hotel is generally fraying and could use a major upgrade. 2. Breakfast was only mediocre, for example, no cereals/milk were offered, and the only hot food (other than toast) was a waffle. The breakfast room refrigerator was poorly stocked and once depleted, was not refilled. 3. The bathroom had issues: black mold on the ceiling and no handholds on the bathtub.

The top plus is this place is very clean & that is always #1 for me. This Comfort Inn has been remodeled & it looks nice. I can get past not having any shelves to put my shampoo & soap, get past them forgetting a fridge in my room, but can't get past two things...the never closing shower door & not being able to get in my room. I only stayed over the weekend but why did I have to stand outside my door a good 5 minutes to get my key card to work? That's AFTER getting it recorded at the front desk "3" times! The shower glass door would not close so the front desk let me borrow a bungee cord to keep it closed! Yes...really! Internet went out the other night & the front desk clerk was nice enough to come to my room to fix it. She had to get the master key to get my door to open! She then recognizes my room# and say, "Oh, this is the room the housekeepers had trouble getting into!" Why rent it in the 1st place knowing that? Overall, the stay was ok but I've stayed in much better Comfort Inns than this one. If you stay here, avoid room 205 .

This is absolutely the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I would give it zero stars if I could. I’ll start with a positive. The girl working the front desk was really nice and very apologetic. Now for the bad stuff. The furniture in the whole hotel was very dated and not in the best shape. The elevator vibrated and screeched and made a grinding noise as it arrived at the second floor. We got in the room and the first thing we noticed was the broken closet door. We put the bag on the bed and noticed stains on the comforter and then noticed the fitted sheet had cigarette burns. I called the front desk and was told they don’t have any replacement king comforters but they could give us a replacement fitted sheet. Fine, whatever. As we pulled the bedding back to take off the fitted sheet, we noticed more stains on the underside of the comforter. Once we took off the fitted sheet there was a bloodstain about 4ā€ in diameter on the under pad. At this point I took all the sheets to the front desk. When I got to the front desk my wife called me because the comforter and pillow for the pull out bed both had big yellow stains. As the girl at the front desk was there alone I asked if she could call the manager. The manager had nothing to offer except a new room, but not one with the king bed our room had so she offered a refund which I gladly accepted. When asked why they didn’t have any replacement king linens I got two different BS answers, neither of which was acceptable. How do you not have spare linen in a HOTEL?! But wait, there’s more! One of the lamp shades was stained and it looked like there were boogers on it. We lifted the cushion of one of the chairs and there was at least a handful of some kind of condiment wrappers. The garbage can had unknown brown stuff crusted on the bottom, and there was dried food on the front of the oven door. The tile in the kitchenette was also sticky. 0/10 would not recommend, don’t know if I ever want to stay a Choice Hotel branded property ever again at this point.

I write this review after reading several other 1-star reviews. Is it a hotel that could use more TLC, yes. Is it as awful as some reviewers indicate, no. Next door to another well know brand, and half the cost for a sleeping room works for me. When booking a Comfort Inn I know I am not getting a resort property. This has what you need for an overnight, a comfortable bed, good TV, clean towels, ample free parking, an adequate hotel breakfast, and quiet location.

This hotel is in very bad condition. The pictures that they show must be from when the hotel was first built, a long long time ago. The front desk area was the nicest part of the whole hotel. It was in good condition and smelt very clean. Once we got through the doors leading to the rooms, the first thing I noticed was the smell. Cigarette smoke and the smell of "skunk weed" marijuana. There was a man walking down the hallway smoking a cigarette. I went to report this to the front desk, and my phone in the room was not even connected. I pulled out the side table to find the cord, and all I found was trash and a broken jack. The commode base was disgusting. The tables out at the pool area looked like they have never been cleaned, and the outside of the building looks run down. We should have never stayed here. I took several photos, however it will only allow me to upload one.
