The room was clean, comfortable bright and private. My particular room had a back entrance that led to the jacuzzi/firepit area. It had beautiful river views. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They let me check in an hour early. The pool and sauna area were very clean.

Cute, comfortable, clean and cozy with the Northern Euro vibe. Biggest flaw was being placed in a main floor above the pool area on a busy week with Northeast kids on vacation. The room would shake often throughout the night as kids were running up and down the halls, and opening and shutting heavy doors, even past 11pm when staff was gone for the night and the pool supposedly is closed. We’ll take it as practice for the future as this was a last minute trip for a mini baby moon. Not the fault of the hotel but something to consider when booking.

So I am a regular up at Stowe in the winter for skiing on the big mountain. I have two places that I stay at on a regular basis. My daughter suggested that I try somewhere new and pointed me to the Talta Lodge. From the minute I stepped into the lobby I knew this would be a good choice. How many front desks have a couple of beer taps at them? Well Talta does! I stayed in larger King room with a sitting area. It had a great view of the Little River outside and was very comfortable. There is a nice bar that is opened from Wed to Sun downstairs. With food available on Thurs to Sun as well. The place has a nice indoor pool. Along with a welcoming lobby with a great woodstove to relax by after skiing. It's a short drive to the mountain and located across the street from the shuttle stop. The question that I ask myself when I go somewhere new to stay is this. Would I go back again? The answer is yes for this place. The staff does a great job as well!

Overall, we were satisfied with our stay at Talta. We stayed in one of the Stuga cabins, and Payton was especially helpful when we interacted with them. We liked almost everything about our cabin (especially the comfy bed and the view of the trees), but I do have some (hopefully) constructive feedback for management/guest services: - The kitchen shelves inside our cabin were slanted downward, away from the wall. In short, the anchors for the shelves appear not to be holding, and I think the shelves should be reinstalled. They're (sort of) functional for now, but eventually, I fear the dishes and pots will slide off. - The heating unit in the living room of cabin #1 was leaking water onto the floor. We have no idea why. We placed towels down when we eventually noticed and notified the front desk during checkout. - One of the gas heaters in the outdoor lounge area was not working when we tried to use it, and the cushions needed cleaning. - Some of the jets in the hot tub were not working, and it wasn't apparent to us how to increase the hot tub's temperature. Overall, we liked using it along with the heated pool and the sauna, which we also used during our stay. - Lastly, we requested cabin #5 but were placed in cabin #1 (which was closest to the dumpster and the lodge itself). I'm not sure why our request was not accommodated since it seemed that cabin #5 was empty throughout our entire stay, but I know there can be internal reasons for where guests are placed. It worked out fine in the end, but it would have been nice if guest services had offered a brief explanation for the decision. I used to work in the hospitality/service sector, and I personally found context to be so helpful for customers.
