Commodores Inn

This place is like a time capsule. The rooms were clean-ish and two of the three mattresses were decent. Overnight staff was very helpful: morning staff not so much. There are many places which are closer to the mountain I would check rather than returning here.

This hotel is so outdated it should be a museum. The room had water stains on the ceiling and smelled funky. The rest of the hotel is not much better. I walked around the third floor area and couldn’t believe all of the crap I saw in the hall. Wall paper peeling off the walls and furniture that was old and torn, why doesn’t someone throw it out. Nobody would ever sit on it. The staff as friendly enough. Whoever owns this place has to realize it needs a total makeover. The restaurant on the property was very good and the staff extremely friendly. The food and drinks were all very good also. I know we will never stay at this place again.

We were pleased with check in and with our room. It was mostly clean (there were a few crumbs on the floor) and they did offer breakfast in the morning. The breakfast was nothing spectacular, but appreciated. I would recommend this hotel in the future.

Having stayed at the Commodores Inn 3 or 4 times over the years (though it had been several years since our last stay), we booked this over the phone while on the road for that night. The front desk staff were very pleasant, but sadly, the hotel itself is looking a little run down and dated although it was obvious that great efforts were made to keep it clean. The room was comfortable enough, although when we walked downstairs from our 2nd floor room we could smell cigarette smoke, suggesting that a guest was likely sneaking a smoke in their room. The lobby area, although we didn't sit down there, was very nice. We were disappointed to find, however, that the restaurant is not the same one that had been there on previous visits and is now run by a 3rd party. We had a peek at it and it is more of a sports bar type place with a menu to match. We walked into town for dinner instead. There are basic foods out in the lobby for breakfast (toast, bagels, etc.), but we didn't avail ourselves of it. Compared to many places in Stowe, this is still a more reasonable price, and not a bad place to stay, but unfortunately not as wonderful as we remembered it.
