Hampton Inn Bennington

The room was so musty we had to open the window. No complimentary water at check-in. The carpet needed a really good cleaning. The furnishings were definitely "used". We had to put the chair against the nightstand so we wouldn't fall over when we sat in it. The only lights were a desk lamp and the one on the nightstand, room was a little dark. We had to unplug the desk lamp so we could put one of our bags on the desk. The bed was OK. Over the years, we have stayed at the Hampton Inn chain in many places in the US and Canada. It was our go-to chain knowing we would have a clean room, good amenities and comfortable beds at a reasonable price. It’s been about 4 years since we traveled. The quality of the Hampton Inn has declined while the prices are higher.

We were staying for 2 nights thought we were paying $450 for 2 nights - turns out it was $450 per night. We checked out after 1 night as the cancellation policy forced us to keep the room - jacked up prices for fall foliage - hotel has not been updated in over 20 years -

I agree with other reviews that the front desk staff is top notch. Very friendly and quiet efficient on checkin. Did not offer any complimentary water for Hilton Honors Silver though. On to the room. Bed was comfortable and room was clean but smelled like a wet dog had been in it. Some mold in the shower and torn shower curtain at rod. Unable to adjust shower head sprayer due to calcium build-up. Stayed for two nights but received no room service - bed not made and no fresh towels. Furniture needed dusting and were severely scratched along edges - like title says, the place gives off a tired vibe and could use some TLC. Breakfast was good - no complaints there. Ended up buying soon deodorizing spray at Hannaford next door. Left it in the room - maybe staff will get a hint. For the higher rate that was charged for the labor day weekend, we would have expected more.

This was a nice hotel. It was clean. The small pool was nice. The breakfast was better than expected. The staff were very helpful. The beds were very comfortable. The small patio needs more furniture. Location is close to Bennington college.

Average at best. We typically select the Hampton Inn chain when traveling because it’s more often than not a good value and well kept. Not the case in Bennington. The room was dark, only bedside lamps, and the hall entry light kept buzzing and flickering, had to keep it turned off. The toilet doesn’t flush well, and the sink stopper wouldn’t stay up so my husband had to remove to allow the water to drain. The room was clean enough but overall needs refreshed and a new coat of paint. And again, for goodness sake please add some lighting, maybe a floor lamp. I felt like we were in a cave. Dark decor, no lighting and dark walls…☹️ We couldn’t pull up the shade since we were on the 1st floor and didn’t want onlookers peeking in. Very disappointed. Will not stay here again should we return to the area.
