Hampton Inn San Antonio Downtown

I recently had the privilege to visit San Antonio and stay for several days at The Hampton Inn Downtown River Walk. The staff was incredibly helpful and attentive on all details of our stay!...They were very quick to respond and did so in a very caring and genuine manner. The ultimate example of service: my wife and I were trying to get transportation to an event downtown and the Director of Sales, Arman Saenz, offered to take us to our event in his own vehicle on his off hours. It was the most generous and service centered display I have ever seen in my many years of travel. This hotel is in a great location and the staff goes above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. Check in and check out was a breeze, the breakfast was incredible, and the staff were super friendly. Very convenient access to the main highways and gated parking. Elexis and her team were all very friendly and welcoming and made our stay very comfortable. Plus: the showers were AMAZING and the rooms very homey. Will definitely choose to stay here again!

Upon checking in we were told that we could come back at 3pm and our room would be ready. We walked around and came back after 3, there were new staff members at the counter and I explained to the older women what the last women had told us. She yells at me that I’m lying and storms away. I should have gotten my money back and left. But finding a room on a Friday night in San Antonio would have been impossible. Once we got to our room and started to unpack I decided to pull the covers down and discovered dirt everywhere. We dusted it off and as we moved the comforter around more came falling out. I called the office and it took 25 minutes for someone to change the sheets (we had no where to sit). The chair at the desk was full of stains and so were the sheets. The bathroom faucets were dirty. The ice machine on the 5th floor also doesn’t work, so we had to go to multiple floors to find one that did. Not to mention there was mold around the edges of the bathtub.

I stayed at this hotel without reading the reviews and wish I had done a little research instead of trying to save a few dollars. While the location was somewhat close to the convention center, I should've paid the extra money to stay in a room where there isn't mold in the shower, a blood-stained towel, excessive traffic and bird noise and employees who don't give a s#!t. On three occasions, I heard employees either bitch about other employees or their schedule in a group. The bathroom was dirty, with hair in the towels that didn't belong to me, mold was present, and the sink was slowly draining. The desk lamp was rusty, and the A/C did not work well. I was up late last night as I could hear the person in the next room cough until after midnight. Upon checkout, the desk clerk couldn't be bothered to ask how my stay was, and our conversation consisted of whether I would like the receipt emailed or printed. The only redeeming quality about the stay was the breakfast. The aggravating thing is that I left a review on Google and after receiving an email from the property, and neither anybody from the hotel or Hilton could be bothered to apologize for the problems or offer to rectify the situation.
