DoubleTree by Hilton San Antonio Northwest

I checked in with my wife and son. We immediately found a large side opening hunting knife on one of the chairs. I brought it downstairs and mentioned that my son found a knife and I wasn't happy. I questioned how well the room could have been cleaned to leave such a large object. They were unconcerned and did nothing about it.

Room: Clean. Quiet. Bed was comfortable - great sleep. Shower and other (in-room amenities) were at the top end of this level of trim-line for these hotels. Parking: gated, secure, and free. Food/drink: separated themselves here. The drinks at the bar were properly priced! What a cool surprise. Full service bar (great bartender!!) and restaurant that is slightly above this trim-line. Breakfast can be had for $10-25 - again VERY reasonable for made to order - and better than a continental breakfast at other comparable hotels - where you may save a couple bucks but get mediocre fare. Here, you can choose to do no breakfast at all and pay nothing more or eat what you want and it’s reasonable. Much appreciated. Coffee was free, delicious, and plentiful. I’m partial to half and half in a carafe but understand the little packages are becoming the norm. Staff: super accommodating! We checked in late at night and they were ready for us - always love the cookies. Better yet, we had to cut our trip short and even though it was Final Four weekend with high demand the hotel understood and accommodated our departure - making a tough situation a little easier. Would definitely choose this hotel again and recommend it highly. We were here for the Final Four - father son trip.

Very mediocre hotel. Beds were uncomfortable, pillows hard. very little positive interaction with from desk personnel. Breakfast was ok but took a long time to be served and they were not busy. Won't return to this one. Find another place to stay

The front desk staff are exceptional, received a welcome bag upon check in. Gym was solid, coffee great, and good wifi. Good shower good clean beds. Late check out no problem. Secure parking lot was a plus. Good locale. Would stay here again 10/10

After work, we stopped by Fire and Water for drinks and dinner, and everything we had was excellent, along with the great drinks from George. The fried oysters were a standout, the pork chop was absolutely delicious along with the pastor mini tacos
