A decent room for the money, BUT - a HUGE but - I got a phone call from the front desk about 8PM. Message was left saying if I didn't check in or call back, my guaranteed reservation was going to be released! Well, fortunately there was still a room available when I got in later that night, because I didn't get the phone call, which was made to my home. I mean - really? How was I supposed to get a phone call to my home when I was on the road traveling? Why bother to require a credit card to reserve a room when you don't honor the reservation just because your customer doesn't arrive as early as you think they should? Needless to say, I don't expect to stay here again since I can't trust to know I will actually have a room waiting for me when I arrive.

Best Motel 6 I’ve been to in awhile. Hotel has a Spanish design on the outside and retro look on the inside. Pool is viewable from all rooms. Motel is along the train tracks, but not noticeable outside of rush hour time frames. Galway between Randolph AFB and Fort Sam Houston or BAMC. Offer military discount and non smoking rooms.

The friendly staff (this place is run by a wife and husband) helped me with the various problems here (see below). It's one of the nicer Motel 6s I've stayed in. It's a bit tricky to get to, but it's worth the hunt. The first problem I had was a supposedly non-smoking room (203) that smelled kind of bad when I checked in. I turned on the bathroom exhaust fan to (I hoped) draw in some fresh air. When I came back a few minutes later, the room REALLY smelled of smoke. I'm guessing that it came from an adjoining smoking room. I had to change rooms. I think this place should arrange all of the smoking rooms in a block at one end of the building so smoke can't seep. The A/C in room 205 was strong and cold, and it has a "continuous fan" switch that keeps it running instead of clunking on and off all night. But it vibrates loudly when the compressor (cooling part) comes on. The phone in room 205 didn't work, so I couldn't get a wake-up call. But the friendly man offered to bang on my door instead... that was a nice touch.

I saw on reviews of this place recently remodeled. Rooms were clean,beds comfortable and price not top bad. We did not like microwave looking like they do not clean from outside. Outside was full of young people drinking and being noisy which made us feel somewhat insecure. Also, website says free breakfast well their FREE BREAKFAST IS JUST COFFEE. It is ok if you are not too picky. I felt it was good only not suitable for family ,but if you are young or on a business trip it is ok.
