Hacienda del Rio

We were in a remodeled unit. The commode leaked when it was flushed. No ice available. Basic accommodations with cheap looking decor did not justify the cost.We should have checked out the unit before staying. After driving for 6 hours, i was tired and didn't want to look further.

No wifi or hairdryer in the rooms. In dire need of renovation. No one at front desk in the evenings, and no emergency number on main door. If not for the river it would get a "1." Very small bathroom area.

Let me start off with the staff is extremely friendly but, this place is not worth it. I paid 855 and some change for the weekend. We got 2 rooms. So around $1712.00 total. my sisters room had a hole in the ceiling and water puddling under the sink. My room had tree roaches and spiders in it. The fire ants were horrible so using the grill near the river was a nightmare. The shower curtain kept falling down on me hitting me in the head one of the times. The kitchen sink handle fell off multiple times. It got to the point were we just left it off because we couldn't fix it. The full kitchen as the say didn't even have a knife and some of the dishes were broken. I took pictures in case we were blamed. I really wish both rooms would have had a vent over the stove but only one did. The pool was gross,murky, and had debris in the bottom of it. The people next to us needed the lock drilled open because the locking mechanism would just spin and not unlock.The room didn't look anything like the pictures online. I went to drop the keys off and tell them about the problems but noone was in the office. We tried to make the best of a not so great experience but, without some major improvements they need to lower the price of the rooms. There is nothing luxurious about this place. P.s. they didn't have wifi but that didn't bother me but, that can't be said for the other people in our group.

When a room costs $149/night + tax (weekday rate), I expect: * WIFI available in my room *Room cleaned every day, without me asking. (They never asked me what I wanted) *Tissues *No odors *Hairdryer *Iron *Ironing Board *Ice Machines *Non-slip bathtub *Vanity area larger than 30" wide *More than one lamp. *Places to plug in charging cables. *Hotel staff available at front desk at least 12 hours/day, and ability to contact them in the event of an emergency. (No telephone numbers posted). This is an older facility, clearly on its last legs, surviving solely on its proximity to the Guadalupe River. Paint can only do so much. Needs to be scraped. On the plus side , it had a large closet and the AC worked fine.

We had high hopes for this hotel especially with its location but it ended up being a let down. They only have their front desk staffed part of the day and didn’t mention that anywhere in the booking. When we showed up at 9:45 pm to check in the whole lobby and hotel was locked up, lights off and there was no way for us to get into our room that we had already prepaid for. We ended up having to go hotel to hotel in town to find another dog friendly hotel with an available room at 10pm at night. The next morning we went in to get everything sorted out. The woman was very helpful and gave us a refund for the night we had to get a different hotel room. We then went into our room and for the price we were very disappointed. The door to the room was paper thin and did not make us feel safe or secure in this room at all and it let in a ton of heat into the room. There was also a broken glass window pane that let the a/c out and again didn’t make the room feel very secure. The toilets clogged extremely easily with just a few pieces of toilet paper and were very hard to get to flush fully. There was black mold in the shower grout and the room over all felt very dirty. The icing on the cake for us was that there is no Wi-Fi offered in any of the rooms. Over all this hotel was extremely overpriced and I would never stay here again. Do yourself a favor and go stay at a chain hotel that will be cheaper and actually clean. This hotel room should be $99 a night.
