This old Marriott has carpet tears, stains, and room freshener to cover its years of use. It is next to a highway and in a Walmart parking lot, so consider that for what it's worth. The front desk staff seemed oddly combative and unfriendly. Maybe they don't like it there either? I suggest going elsewhere, which is up to Marriott's typical standards.

The last week (11/23/2024) I booked 2 rooms ,and unfortunately we had a bad experience with one of them. Room 413 was smelling fishy, and the towels smelled bad, so my wife called the front desk and the lady come and spraying the room, however she did not changed room. In the Morning we filed a complained and receptionist told us that the manager is going to call us , My wife got sick! The property was Townplace Suites Houston at 5315 South Rice Avenue. This hotel is OK for a short stay. But there are multiple issues if you are planning to stay long. Positives: - Affordable price - Adjcent to Walmart - Responsive customer service - Clean - Reasonably good breakfast Negatives: - Dishwasher was broken. They took 2 days to fix it. - Everyday the water supply would cut off for an hour - Two bedroom suite was very cramped with only one bathroom - Furniture is old and scruffy - Cabinets were broken. Had to get maintenance to fix. We had booked for 14 nights, but left after 4 nights.

This hotel is so underrated. I actually booked through Hotwire then immediately regretted after seeing the reviews. I must say that they totally overdelivered. The breakfast choices were plentiful and good. Plenty of toppings for my oatmeal and oat and regular milk. Hot and cold choices. Housekeeping staff was friendly and accommodating. Front desk was AMAZING! Friendly and willing to answer questions. At check-in, there was an issue with my reservation from Hotwire, the front desk rep fixed it and offered a upgrade for the issue!! In a world where good customer service is becoming more rare, I was really impressed with my stay.
