Thanks to our recent visit to Extended Stay on River Run in Ft. Worth, my family will no longer allow me to select a hotel. Ever. This was probably the worst experience we've ever had in a hotel. The photos on their website were massively deceiving. We had set our expectations very low to begin with. I'm a cheapskate and understood that for $75/night this wouldn't be a five star experience, but it was much worse than we could have predicted. To begin with, during check-in the manager actually yelled at his guests and staff to, "Quiet down so I can concentrate!" I was next in line at the time and was completely taken aback. I found myself almost whispering after his outburst so as to not upset him again. But it was after we received our keys that the horror really started. The smell of cigarette smoke almost knocked us over as we entered our room. I mean, it was awful. We couldn't help but laugh at the "smoke-free room" sign because somebody's been smokin' in there! When we left for dinner shortly after, our clothes already reeked of nasty cigarette smoke. We also realized later that the molding around the door was non-existent, so anyone smoking outside our door might as well have come on inside and done it because the 2" gap was just letting light and everything else right in. Now let's talk about the room itself. It was old, outdated, falling apart. We debated just leaving, but decided to tough it out for at least the first night since we had an event nearby that would put us too late to find another room. We had planned on using the "fully-stocked" kitchen that was advertised to prepare our own food, but the rickety old cabinets were completely empty. Even if they'd provided the items promised on their website, there was no way we were preparing, much less eating, any food in that place. The smell alone was enough to ruin any appetite. The room was dirty, the sheets were tacky/sticky feeling and so stained and disgusting that we ended up making a late-night run to Walmart and purchasing our own sheets. Then in the middle of the night, someone banged on our door, waking us up. I was too freaked out to go back to sleep. The next morning we were too grossed out to use the shower, but there was no shower curtain anyway, so it would have been a water-free-for-all in the bathroom had we attempted it. We ended up canceling our second night and finding a MUCH nicer hotel about 15 minutes away. I have now learned my lesson. It's not worth any sort of savings to be forced to sleep in an old, grimy, dirty hotel. I don't see how there are any positive reviews unless some of the rooms have been updated and are kept cleaner than the one we were given. The upstairs corner room needs to be completely gutted and fumigated.

Do not stay at any Extended Stay America! They do not honor their reservation. You can book in advance and pay for a room and they told me they donât have to hold it. I book a room in months advance and paid in full. Showed up at 5 pm and not 3 pm exact on the dot for checkin. The front desk AND guest relation on their website both stated that rsvp doesnât mean they will have a room available. First come and first serve?!? Apparently they donât know what reservation mean. The front desk told me I was supposed to call in the morning to make sure I have a room. I have traveled around the world and never heard of this bologna. They ruined an event for me since I had to scramble for a room. Donât bother since all chain of commands have horrible Custer service. I was even calmed and asked what is the protocol of reserving a room and this is exactly what they told me. I said thank you and hung up. Never will stay at this horrible company. Beware when traveling!!!

I reserved a non-smoking room. After arriving late about 11 pm, my husband and I were given a room where the smoke from the room next door was so strong and our key did not work. I returned to the lobby and asked if I could get a refund. The lady informed me that would have to be done through booking.com. I then asked for another room. The clerk did give us another room. There was a trick to the door handle (lift up instead of push down) that was the reason we could not enter our rooms which required the clerk to come to our room to show us. I was thankful she did that, but even though there was not smoke from the room next door the second room did still reek of smoke. We were also a little worried about the safety of the motel due to the type of people we saw hanging around the parking lot that late at night. There was no coffee maker or hair dryer in the room. We ended up staying both nights but will not return. Even though this room was cheaper than others in the area, I still did not feel it was a good value.

Booked a reservation well in advance to volunteer at a major event at Dickies Arena. I confirmed my reservation the week of my arrival and reviewed the hotel's policies regarding parking, breakfast, etc. However, when I arrived just before check-in, I was denied my room. The hotel was clearly overbooked due to the high demand caused by the event. To make matters worse, the male clerk at the front desk was extremely rude and arrogant. Despite them claiming they couldnât find my reservation under my credit card, they still charged that credit card over $300 for what was supposed to be an $84 room. They also falsely marked me as a no-show for the day before my actual reservation and extended the stay to two days instead of one. #Unbelievable

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I didn't like the front desk. I saw dead cockroaches on the floor. The floor was filthy, pillows very uncomfortable. I had a terrible night, unsafe place, no cameras around, poor maintained. I would not recommend it at all.
