Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Amarillo I 40 West TX

"My young nephew and his family located in Amarillo have been affected by the power outages, so I booked a room on Expedia for my nephew and his wife. At Country Inn and Suites by Radisson. Unfortunately, Mia at the front desk—who was both rude and unhelpful—charged my credit card for the payment. Then, inexplicably, she charged their credit card for the full amount as well, despite already processing the payment on my account. When I called to address the issue, Mia claimed, 'Their ID didn’t match the credit card.' My question is: if that’s the case, why did you process the payment on my card in the first place? Mia said she was not supposed to do that but she did And why collect payment twice—for the same room—from both accounts? It’s hard not to feel like this could be an attempt to exploit the ongoing electricity outages in the area by double-billing customers, or perhaps Mia simply doesn’t understand the basics of proper billing practices. Either way, this situation is deeply frustrating and unfair."

We always stay here when passing thru Amarillo. The rooms are a good size, beds are comfy and the HVAC always good and quiet. The breakfast is standard fare, but well done, and always stocking up when things are running low. Super close to the interstate but quiet, you don't hear the roar of the traffic.

The outside of the building and the lobby are beautiful. Unfortunately, the rooms are long overdue for an update. The carpet was badly faded, stained, torn, and pulling away from the walls. Some of the furniture was also stained and the walls were scuffed in places. Our room had a strong smell that we couldn't quite place. It wasn't mold or urine. It was more like cleaner or room deodorizer. They listed the room as 2 queens, but the beds were actually full size, not queen. The good news is that the beds and the bathroom were clean. The breakfast was pretty good. This place was okay for 1 night, but with all the options out there, I wouldn't stay here again unless they do some updates.

The hotel & rooms were very clean. If you are traveling with dogs, this would be a great place to stay. We do not have a dog, but most everyone we saw had at least one some two. All different sizes. But well behaved because did not hear any barking.

It appears it is clean and well maintained but very old hotel. The plus is that room is big like a suite with a separate living area. Downside is that everything is old including furniture, carpet ,towels and linens and just everything. However everything is clean and I did not see any mold like other old hotels. Staff is very friendly as well. This hotel just needs good renovation but overall deserves 4 stars.
