Tru by Hilton Sumter

I stayed at the tru hotel for a 2 night stay with work. The hotel was modern, clean and tidy, comfortable and the staff were very friendly. Over all I was very pleased with my stay at the try by Hilton. The fitness Center is your typical hotel gym but watch out for one of the treadmills as the belt was catching when I was there , nearly making me trip. So if you’re using the fitness Center… watch out. Free breakfast included and coffee around the clock was a huge plus.

This place was a sad attempt at making an old dilapidated hotel seem like it's "new" or remodeled. The bathroom smelled like urine, the shower was stained & looked gross. It was loud & we didn't feel safe. The front desk agent from check-in was nice at least.

Tru by Hilton in Sumter is a relatively new addition to Hilton’s lower-end properties, but it offers all the essentials one might need. Rooms come equipped with a fridge, TV, and standard heating/cooling – a nice touch in terms of convenience. I had a late check-in and encountered issues with the Hilton app, so I called ahead. The staff assured me there were no problems, and I planned to pick up my keys at the front desk. Upon arrival well after 9:00 p.m., I was met with two front desk staff. While they were efficient, they didn’t acknowledge my Gold status, and I missed out on my snack and water, which I look forward to at Tru by Hilton properties. I wasn’t offered anything initially, and it was only later, after I inquired, that I learned the snack bags were depleted. Although there were snacks available in the convenience store area, I wasn’t offered any of those. The room was clean and passed my blacklight test, which is crucial for me. However, I noticed that the shower products were unsecured, which raised concerns about cleanliness and safety. If you’re staying on the third floor, be aware that even-numbered rooms face the highway, leading to significant noise from traffic. Odd-numbered rooms, facing the back of another hotel, are quieter. I would have preferred a room on the fourth floor away from the highway. Breakfast was satisfactory with rotating selections: grits or oatmeal on some days and bacon or sausage on others, along with other options like pancakes, breads, and cold choices. The lobby is spacious with a pool table and nearby fast food options. On checkout, I mentioned my missed snack and water to the front desk, who were friendly and assured me that I could have chosen a snack from the concession area. Overall, the experience was mixed but could be improved with better communication and room placement considerations.

Me and my loyal cult members- I mean friends...visited this hotel about a week or two back, In hopes that the butter would be up to par. But to our dismay...there was a severe lack of fresh butter. They might as well classify this as lard..It was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend to a lover of butter.

Rooms were adequate. Breakfast was ok. When we arrived there was no one at checkin. The sundry store didn’t have toothpaste. they also double charged me for the 2 rooms I had. After 2 weeks and multiple phone calls I received a refund. Be weary.
