Aloft Charleston Airport & Convention Center

Elite gold member. Booked through Marriott app. Checked in online. Called the hotel the afternoon of check-in to let them know of a very late arrival due to flight. They said it was not a problem. Ubered to hotel at 1230 am to find multiple people in the lobby looking upset. Only employee was on his cell phone and not making eye contact. I thought maybe internet problems or something technical. After 5 minutes I asked the groups of people and they said it was over sold. I said I checked in online and they all had too. Could not get the employee's attention so call Bonvoy and they tell me that I can book a nearby hotel for two nights (mind you it is 1 am at this point so not really 2 but still have to pay) for $844. Twice what I paid! I said that is unreal and got the employee's attention and he said if I'm elite--I am it would be comped and the manager Mr. Jeff Criminger would help me sort it out but basically I had to pay for now the twice as expensive hotel. Plus another $25 uber at 1am. Mr Criminger has only texted me back once despite multiple calls and emails. The Bonvoy guarantee says if they have to move you they pay for the whole thing. They are not contacting me back. No compensation at all just letting me know that they took care of canceling the original booking---the one that they did not have a room available to me! Horrible service. I'm probably done with Marriott as a brand, definitely Aloft and would never stay here. What a terrible bait and switch. Marriott has gone way down hill to a loyal customer. The employee says this happens every night.

Although the Aloft brand is not my favorite, we had a good stay. Perhaps it was because of my age, but I dislike the decor and vibe at Aloft hotels. Definitely hoping to attract younger customers, it is budget friendly and usually located in good urban areas. This particular Aloft is located in North Charleston near the airport, the Coliseum, the Convention Center and Tanger outlets. There.are many restaurants within walking distance. What made our experience was the very attentive staff, especially Kasha. She helped us work through various problems and was so pleasant and friendly. . Thank you, Kasha!

Great stay always this the only hotel I satt when.i come to charleston..Netra has great customer service and hospitality.. the surrounding area has alot of good restaurants and bars .. top golf is also for fun.. the weather is also nice nit too far from downtown and beaches

Customer service isn’t here. After staying here last week and coming back this week I will not return. I booked through a 3rd party and was told last week because I was here on business that she would wave the incidentals fee of $75 (that my companies 3rd party system includes) I go to pay and my cash card declines because I preloaded it for this as back up because she charged me $186 it’s ridiculous.

Customer service was terrible! I came in after a long day. The lady at the counter was completely indifferent to me showing up at the check-in counter. She was texting somebody and it was clear she was not happy about something. I stood there for about 2-3 minutes before she even acknowledged me. That completely ruined my stay. I am all about first impressions. Everything else can be 'average', but that first impression, a friendly welcome, a smile, a "how was your day" can go a long way. I got none of that. I got the opposite. Will not stay here ever again. Probably not at another Aloft for that matter.
