The rooms are very nice and spacious and the staff is friendly. I honestly would have given it a 5 star rating however, this is a large property and there is one tiny laundry room on only the second floor. This is an extended stay hotel but there are only 2 washers for hundreds of rooms. On top of that, it is $3 to wash your cloths and another $3 to dry them!

My stay at Residence Inn Columbia Maryland was satisfactory overall. The hotel is spacious, though a bit of a trek to reach the rooms. Cleanliness was maintained well, and the room was adequately equipped with a refrigerator and kitchen amenities. While there was nothing particularly exceptional about the stay, it served its purpose for a short stay of a night or two. No notable negatives, but likewise, nothing exceptionally positive to highlight.

Housekeeping Manager, MR. MISDEL QUINONES went above and beyond in ensuring that our stay was above and beyond our expectations and needs. We were guests for 5 days along with our dog. This hotel is dog friendly and has a very clean dog walk area with doggy bags available for you to pick up and dispose of dog waste. Hotel Management and staff were very welcoming and accommodating at all times. Breakfast everyday was a plus and offered a variety each day to choose from. Our suite was spotless, bed was very comfortable and the kitchenette was exactly what we needed to prepare food for our dog. Thank you for the at home stay that we experienced and I would surely choose this hotel if I have a need.

Checked in Friday, Dec15 for 12 nights. We understand cleaning/towels coffee wil be done every other day. Our cleaning days should be Sat, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Friday/Sat we experienced occasional problem with the toilet. Float sticks and toilet will not fill. Remedy was to remove top, reach in bowl and pull on float. We report this Sunday am. Explain simple solution is to have someone replace the float…a 10 minute job with parts available at any hardware or plumbing store. Desk person repeatedly tries to move us to another room. “Not sure we can replace toilet.” I again explain this is a quick and simple repair. We say we have 5 suitcases worth of stuff (Xmas presents for kids and grandkids and 13 days clothing…hence, we had no interest in repacking and moving to another room. Again she insists we should move and I told her to get some to fix the toilet. I also ask for more coffee. For some reason, only two coffee pods were supplied when we checked in. There are 2 coffee drinkers in room. I thought was just an oversight, especially when their policy is to service the room every OTHER day? Would they not provide coffee to cover 2 days rather than making the customer beg the desk for coffee every other day? Sunday service done on schedule. Only 2 coffee pods supplied and no creamer.. ( Despite my calling this issue to their attention that morning). We ask for more coffee to cover till scheduled cleaning on Tuesday. Tuesday comes and goes and the scheduled cleaning is not done. No clean bed, towels and obviously no coffee. I report to night clerk Tuesday night who is apologetic, givesus coffee and promises to discuss with mgr. Tuesday evening and Tuesday morning the toilet fails. Same problem, I report this to desk Wed am and remind them of the failure to clean room. They promise to service the room. I remind her have extra coffee supplied to get us to our next cleaning which should now bring Friday. She try’s to get us to move rooms. We declined. I told her to get some up there while we were still in the room to illustrate the easy fix. A fellow came, said he had the part in hand and would fix in 15 min and he did! ( ? = Why was this not done when we first raised the issue?). We return to the room Wednesday night. Is cleaned, but only two coffee pods and no creamer, which means no coffee for me. Friday ( which should now be our next scheduled service day due to the Tuesday snafu) comes and goes with no cleaning or service, Sat am I again talk to the same clerk. She says that our cleaning schedule was not changed to accommodate for the Tuesday snafu. Rather, the Wednesday cleaning was a special cleaning due to the fact “the Tuesday cleaning did not meet our “expectation.” I told her the Tuesday “cleaning” did not meet our satisfaction because there had been NO room service Tuesday. and this had been clearly conveyed to her as well as the night clerk the night before. Moreover, if they were actually on the original cleaning schedule, then our room should have been cleaned Thursday which of course it was not. Clerk promised get our room serviced Friday, stated our next cleaning day would be Sunday and would talk to her manager to get some Marriott points for us for all their errors. Never heard anything. They did ‘service’ the room Friday but failed to bring wash clothes, left only 2 coffee pods and of course no creamer. Sunday came and when with No cleaning. Sunday night we went down and grabbed towels, coffee and creamer. Monday was Christmas so we anticipated no service despite their many failures, and, there was no service. Ok…the staff should be with family that day. SURELY they would come Monday as it was now 4 days with no service? NADA, No show. We again went down to grab fresh towels. When we checked out Tuesday, the young man who had been working the night desk was still there and got the manager. I had to explain all the above to her (apparently no one had passed on my complaints during our 12 day stay). In the end, she offered a few Marriott points which may be enough for a partial night’s stay). The problems we had during our stay could be considered minor if looked at individually. That the problems continued despite having been called to management attention indicates a lack of training and total lack of management supervision. Certainly not what I would have expected from Marriott. We visit the kids and grandchildren several times a year and always for a week or more. We are likely to look for alternative place to stay next time. Not worth the irritation. Too bad….with a little oversight, this would be a nice place to stay. PS: Room itself and breakfast were fine.
