I was worried about our stay as the reviews were mixed but we had a WONDERFUL stay! I travel a ton and would not hesitate to stay here again. The hotel was clean and in a GREAT location. Our room was clean, did not appear to be outdated. The beds and pillows were comfortable. We received a bag of water bottles and a cookie at check-in. The lobby has water and lemonade 24/7. I would say the area around the hotel was not great but that is everywhere in downtown Charleston, even King Street. There is a lot of construction, liter, dirt, etc. However, we felt safe walking around the city! Honestly, it was a great location and room for a very fair price! PROS: Great location--Meeting Street has lots of places to eat. 1 block from King Street for shopping, restaurants and bars!! Clean Updated decor Comfortable bed, firm and plush pillows on each bed Decent water pressure Working AC unit K-cup Coffee pot and refrigerator The valet staff were friendly and helpful Restaurant on site Pool and gym on site Working elevators CONS: 4th floor carpet bubbling up Wear and tear on bathroom vanity Front desk staff not overly friendly but not rude at all Restaurant has limited menu with no dessert options Valet parking, it's nice but it is $35/day, and I wasn't planning on that expense

Rooms are very dated and our balcony was filthy and had water dripping from the balcony above. There was also a bee hive growing in a corner. Hotel staff was nice but the location really is not that great as it was a decent walk back into town. We have been trying to stay at different places in Charleston when we visit but I would put this hotel at the bottom of where we have tried so far.

Great location, walkable to pretty much everything! Hotel has coin laundry and pool which is nice if your trip is an extended stay. It's not as upscale as some of the other Marriott hotel brands, but, it's fine for families or more casual trips. Your steps from King Street where all the action is. Our room was clean and the hotel staff was professional. The lobby has kind of a "industrial Barbie" vibe with pink, purple and black decor. You get a Keurig and mini-fridge in the room. Will definitely stay here again since the price of the other hotels in downtown Charleston are pricey. This is a good value for the location.

This hotel is in a pretty good location. Front desk staff very helpful. Bar staff very friendly. It is a couple of miles from The Battery. Across the street from a liquor store. Good restaurants were a bit of a hike. The room was comfortable. The restaurant/bar was dead. The food was just OK. Pass on the flat breads. This is a Marriott property however when I tried to use my Marriott gift card, they could not apply it, and I had to email it to tarainvestments.com (tried twice) which I am still not sure they received and applied. The front desk person told me they were franchised or something like that and that a manager had to apply my gift card. The valet guy was very nice. The pool looked welcoming, but I did not get a chance to use it.

I really wanted to like this hotel but unfortunately it wasnât great. Honestly the front desk staff were nice but kinda had not so good excuses for everything. Checked in and the first room smelled of something strong (not in a good way), and they moved me to a different room right away. Not amazingly better but an improvement. Some reviews complained about the gas station across the street (on Meeting St), but it was actually pretty nice looking, and the liquor store next door to that was a perfect location (closes early, 6:30, luckily just made it). The side street (Woolfe) was an eyesore and hard to ignore. Old room service food was left out for hours in the hallway close to the elevator that either shouldnât have been there in the first place and also should have been picked up way sooner. People were laughing at how long it had been there. Luckily they didnât charge an extra night to break the reservation, so after 1 night I booked a same day reservation at the Hyatt which is basically around the corner on King St. It was the exact same price, had garage parking for $18/day (best day rate in the area after some minor research), free breakfast, room on a higher floor, updated room with a kitchen and sitting area, and an overall better experience.
