Residence Inn by Marriott Myrtle Beach Oceanfront

This place is in a not safe area of Myrtle beach. We had to stay here for a volleyball tournament as part of a stay and play deal. The hotel itself is fine. The pool is pretty crappy but we prefer the beach anyway. However, the main problem is this: I begged for a second parking pass so my college daughter and her friend could safely park their car in the garage as well as myself. We are a group of 4 females traveling and this is an issue of SAFETY. we were told we could park our second car across the street in another hotel’s parking lot (maybe) if we got their permission. So I went and scoped it out. Are you kidding me? I paid $300/night for this hotel room and you want me to tell my COLLEGE AGED daughter to park in a drug dealers backyard? Really? Marriott in general has lost my business and I WILL BE contacting corporate to complain.

My sister and I flew in to Myrtle Beach airport and the Residene Inn was only a couple of miles away. We were there for a family memorial service and very unfamiliar with the area but this hotel was so easy to find. Upon arrival the staff was great, and we were upgraded due to our Marriott Loyalty to room 1407, which was a spectacular suite with an amazing ocean view! We regretted that we had only booked one night as we had to return home right after the service as this place was wonderful. I can't imagine how crazy busy it must be "in season" but it was very quiet and tranquil at this time. There was even snow on the ground and on the beach! We had a light dinner at the bar and the bartender was friendlyl and accomodating. The food, "pub-grub" was very good and the prices were very reasonable....a shock! When we went to leave I couldn't remember where I had parked my car in the winding cement parking garage and Glenn was so helpful. We were laughing as we kept pushing the button on the keyfob of the rental (a Hyndai electric IONIC from Avis that was more spaceship than car but awesome). He was so very helpful and I felt so safe with him. He wouldn't leave me until I was locked in the car and guided me down the ramps to the lobby opening. Thanks, Glenn. I'm an international traveler and rely on Marriott for service, quailty, safety and an upscale experience. Thanks to all for making this sad occsaion of a family memorial more than pleasant. We will be back when we can vaycay!

This is still a great hotel with a great view. This was our second or third visit and like all have said, Star at the front desk is great. It seems that the breakfast in the summer has more offerings. Maybe not, but the breakfast was basic. The hotel garage was empty and my only complaint is the $20 a day parking plus tax. There was no-one there. I do not remember a parking fee in the past. $150 dog deposit too which is fine but keep that in mind.

This place is great! We love the facilities, the special buffet breakfast, the views, (dog-friendly) but especially the great staff serving all of the guests! If you want someone who's looking to serve and very capable--just ask Star at the main desk! She's awesome! We've stayed here 4 times, now, ...can't wait to go back!

When I checked in I met Angie. She was superb at checking us in and making me feel welcome. This is a lost art in hotels. Thank you Angie! The suites in this hotel are nice with decent amenities. For an oceanfront view, you cannot beat the off season prices. Yes the hotel will show a little wear as all oceanfront hotels do. Location is awesome and the beach is wonderful. As others have noted, lots of dogs here. We are our dog with us and he had mental overload for a while with all the critters around. We enjoyed it.
