I drive through Selinsgrove, PA all the time when traveling from North to South and back. I generally stay at Hampton Inns because they are predictable. The one in Selinsgrove is so bad that on my last stay, several years ago, I got my room comped. There were stains on the carpets; the carpets were tattered; the bath ceiling was peeling; there was mold everywhere in the bathroom, etc. Their response was, "Well, we're remodeling." This trip, rather than go on to Williamsport, (PA) or stop in Lewisburg (PA), I decided to give this place a try again. After all, it had been remodeled. WRONG!!!! DON'T BELIEVE IT. When I arrived (my reservation had already been charged), three of us waited and waited and waited and waited for someone to come to the front desk. Being very road weary, I went around the corner and pounded on the office door; I yelled, "Hello, anyone there." Nobody, not nobody for what seemed like the longest, most frustrating time. The first "guest" at the desk sounded as if he had waited and waited and waited already when I entered the hotel. The second person had summarily had her room changed and was standing there trying to get a shower curtain. A SHOWER CURTAIN???? Had I not been so tired and my reservation wasn't already paid (having arrived after 6pm), I WOULD HAVE LEFT. Finally, the sole, surviving staff member emerged from an elevator, looking frazzled, and tried to be apologetic. She was the ONLY person on duty. What the heck???? I wanted to yell, just yell at her, but she, herself, was frustrated. We who had prepaid reservations had to wait and wait and wait? NOTE: Hampton has a habit of not staffing its front desks adequately in the morning during check out and in the evening when people need and want to check in. THAT WASN'T THE ONLY OTHER UNPLEASANT SURPRISE. This place is STILL in need of remodeling. The rugs remained tattered and frayed. The bathroom floor had I-don't-know-what on it. The ceiling was still peeling; someone had made a feeble attempt at caulking the tub (which during my first stay years ago had black mold growing where the caulk should be). And the bathroom vent or overhead heater was filthy, disgusting. I didn't want to walk anywhere in the room or bathroom without my shoes or my slippers on. I even got in the tub (hoping it was clean) and flipped my slippers off to the outside of the tub. And let's not even talk about the two double beds. One looked like it had been slept in AND on. The cover was terribly wrinkled and so were the sheets. The pillow looked like a head had rested on it after it had been made. The second bed was more wrinkle and head-dent free, BUT clearly someone had sat a big rear end on it even if it had been cleaned. And the old box springs, which creaked terribly, had been covered in hideous green fitted sheets or something. CRIPES!!! Made me sick to my stomach. I chose the cleaner of the two beds and slowly peeled the sheets away to see if there was anything in them or on them. The lighting was so dim I couldn't see. I had an uneasy sleep wondering what was in bed with me. And energy-saving lights? Go Green? Don't kid yourself -- not. I had to turn on every light in that awful dark space to see or find anything in my bed or in my suitcase, so it's not really energy saving, is it? The next morning, I went down to have a word with the front desk. NOT TO HAPPEN. The check-out guy, who looked more like a lumber jack than a hotel employee, had the phone stuck to his ear. I decided to eat first. Ugh! Greasy, watery, or stale -- not good. AND I wanted to watch tv to catch up on the news after being on the road. The whole long table by the tv was full of crumbs. I kept looking at the guy with the phone-ear to beckon him. Couldn't someone clean it? He was still on the phone. I went up to my room, finished packing, came back down, and couldn't check out, he was still on the phone and mumbled something. THE SYSTEM WAS DOWN. No check out, no receipt, just a mumble from the lumber jack. Are you kidding me? From start to finish, this was the WORST, ABSOLUTELY WORST stay I've ever had at a Hilton or just about any hotel, and I am a gold member. This was like staying at flop house. YUCK! I have quite a few friends who drive through Selinsgrove, too; you should hear what I'm telling them. I am switching back to Marriott. How I regret ever giving Hilton a chance. I'd add some horrible, truth-telling photos, but A.) you might be eating and B.) it's too much work. BUT, I will share them with Hilton headquarters. I want my money back again. DON'T STAY HERE. DIRTY, FRUSTRATING, AND AWFUL. PS, if I could leave zero stars I would.

I was in town for a job, I stayed only 1 night. Checkin was fast and easy, was allowed to check in early. Asked about locations for local food, was given a few choices. Staff was great. Breakfast was the standard food. They did have togo bags and at checkout I was given a Diet Coke and water.

This hotel runs like a well-oiled machine. The housekeepers do excellent work, so I'm sure that whoever is in charge of all that knows what they're doing. THERE'S ONLY ONE THING THAT BOTHERS ME....and my being bothered by this is probably because of the great work that the housekeepers do and how friendly they are....THE CONDITIONS THAT THOSE POOR HOUSEKEEPERS HAVE TO WORK UNDER/IN is what I'd call inhumane. I happened to be in the area of these two housekeepers (only I don't think they knew I was there) and heard them talking about the air conditioning not working on the first floor and that it's been out for awhile now. REALLY?! In this horrendous heat we've been having this year, you delay getting the a/c fixed?! WHY??!! Do you not care about your workers? They're actually your bread and butter and you're abusing them! You'd think that management would care more about their workers but apparently someone in charge is either falling down on the job or really doesn't care that their dependable hard-working housekeepers have to SUFFER trying to work when they are roasting to death in at the Shamokin Dam Hampton Inn!!! Have people really become that uncaring? If only the higher-ups would have to endure these conditions so they'd know what's going on. Or do they know and they are doing nothing about it as they sit in their air-conditioned offices? It's a wonder that they can even keep people working there over a period of time if that's how the workers are treated. Sadly, money has become the bottom line for a lot of businesses nowadays and I think it's just pathetic that the human race has devolved this far. Oh and can you imagine what it must be like for the laundry person sitting in all that humidity that's created by the dryers? I'll be that's next to being in hell on earth. As much as I like Hampton Inn (especially this one), I think I'll be looking for another hotel to stay at instead of patronizing a business that takes advantage of and abuses its workers. It's a SHAME! GOODBYE, HAMPTON INN. YOU HAD A CHOICE AND YOU CHOSE THE WRONG PATH! I wish the housekeepers (and other people in there who are forced to endure the HAMPTON HEAT) all the best. You don't deserve this and it's not your fault. The fault likes on those jerks that are "in charge"! I hope that they see the error of their ways and turn things around so you will no longer have to suffer. You do such good work. WHY DO YOU CONTINUE TO WORK AT HAMPTON INN??!!

Our family stayed at this location several times during the first few months of 2024. Every visit- EVERY visit- the staff was exceptional. The hotel itself is a little older, but clean and in good shape. What I really cannot stress enough was how amazing the staff was. In the last year or two, we have stayed in a number of other places throughout the US, and while many were pretty good (and others not-so-much), the service at this location was consistently excellent. I absolute recommend staying at this location if you need to visit the area.

The location is very convenient. Check in was quick and pleasant. The room was renovated, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was as is expected in Hampton Inn, and the facilities were spacious. Staff was friendly and efficient. A well deserved 5 out of 5.
