Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh University Place

My husband had an unexpected health emergency resulting in open heart surgery and multi week stay at a hospital in Oakland. It was a very stressful time and I needed a place close to the hospital. I called several of the hotels in the area. Caroline, at the Hilton Garden Inn on Forbes Avenue was so kind. She took the time to answer my many questions and was so very patient. HGI was affordable and offered a hospital rate. I could walk to the hospital. The hotel has a very inexpensive and clean laundry room with laundry supplies available for purchase at the front desk. The rooms are clean and comfortable with mini fridge and microwave. The hotel also has a lovely bar and restaurant open until 10. Very friendly staff and delicious food helped to relieve some of the stress of long ICU days. Special thanks to Brian and Lindsay who helped when I had a question about my bill. A great staff begins with good managers. The management of this Hilton Garden Inn believe in hospitality and it shows in all areas of service. I highly recommend the Hilton Garden Inn on Forbes Avenue. I will look forward to staying there with my husband for a fun weekend sometime. There are many museums, restaurants and historical landmarks in the area. I am grateful to the wonderful staff at HGI. You helped carry me through a very difficult time. God bless and keep you.

This was the first time I have stayed at a hotel where housekeeping ONLY services the room on request, unless you stay 3 nights. I checked in on a Friday and out on Sunday, during which time no one ever made our beds, replenished coffee supplies or emptied bathroom trash. I stayed for the hotel’s proximity to U Pitt, and it was convenient. The p.m. front desk staff were very friendly and helpful.

Conveniently located near the University of Pittsburgh. The Carnegie Museums of Art & Natural History and the Phipps Conservatory are walking distance from the hotel, as are many restaurants. It is best to park in the hotel garage, which is valet only, but it is well attended. Nice staff, clean rooms and common areas. Good breakfast, but it isn't free. We will stay here again.

Friendly staff and pleasant lobby area, however our room felt outdated with seeming old furniture. From the outside, the rear of the build faces an empty lot and highlights the age and upkeep of the building. While Hilton has been very vocal about their partnership with Tesla to provide EV Chargers, this hotel only has standard wall outlets for guests. Better than nothing but also nothing to brag about.
