First of all I would like to preface this comment by saying that our overall experience was really nice! My husband and myself started coming to Mountaineer many years ago. Long story short, we decided to return for an overnight stay this past week. I opted for early check in at a $20 fee. So we arrive. Front desk person- Te—-, said sorry no rooms are available- come back and try again in 2 hours. Whaaa? Said “we had a hard time getting people out of here today”. Then she flipped her mood and said “come back in half an hour”. So we went and got a new players card and had a drink. Came back and all of a sudden we had multiple options for room accommodations! Ok- so we got our room. Nice- had some talk time on our patio that was near the pool and said wow, this is ok! Wouldn’t mind coming back for a weekend when we could get in the water! So again, we gambled and enjoyed our evening tremendously. Yakked to staff. Met a wonderful personality that was over slots- pretty sure her name was Kelly- had 2 wines by then- she was an absolute joy to talk to! She’s a keeper! Ok - so heck out time comes. Front desk Ter—! She’s the epitome of a person who does NOT, NOT, belong at the front desk! She’s the first person you see when you arrive and the last when you leave! She gave me a copy of another person’s bill. Not mine! When I got home I called her. Another loooong story! I said “this is my visa!” I want a copy of the correct bill! I asked to have it mailed- she said”I am done for the day, and I don’t have any stamps. I will have to use my own money to purchase a stamp to send it to you”!!!! Are you SERIOUS??????. Ok enough said. I wanted this trip to be a do over this summer. She needs to Go! I felt like I was signing into federal prison when I got there- not into a fun filled casino where you are excited about your trip!

Very disappointing hotel stay. There was food on the floor under the table, found someone’s keys on the couch, someone’s forgotten shoes in the closet, no hot water in shower, bathroom sink had drain issues, nasty stains on carpet, burned out light bulbs over vanity, very outdated rooms in need of attention. FYI for hotel guests…You cannot get breakfast at the restaurant on weekdays. On a positive note, the staff were all very friendly and we enjoyed the casino.

Mountaineer is out dated. Old slot machines. Very few newer ones. And I’ve never been at a casino where ALL the ATMs are down starting on Saturday into Sunday. Sunday the cashier didn’t even have any $100 bills. As for the room we stayed in it was average. The maid didn’t even bother coming into our room to clean. The bathroom was disgraceful. The shower curtain and ceiling had mold . The tub had some massive holes that someone tried to fix…but very poorly. And to top it off there was hair on the floor. Not just a piece but many. Saturday we were walking from our room to the elevator and the maid was sitting in a room at the desk playing with her phone.

Very clean Casino and friendly employees Weird vibe in the casino since you don't alot of noise from the slot machines. They do pipe in music over the speakers. That two lane steel bridge that charges one dollar to cross got the heart pumping.

Too many new machines! I'm not impressed with all the bells and whistles and machines that are 6 feet high. So many new machines need 27 cents or so for just one line, so even though they are labeled a penny machine they certainly aren't. We prefer the older ones, that you can truly play 1 cent at a time, if you want. There's a few of them, but their variety is limited. Most are in the smoking area, and we don't smoke and don't want to be around the horrible smell. Sadly many casinos are going this route. If you only have $20 or so you probably won't be there for long.
