Candlewood Suites Harrisburg Hershey an IHG Hotel

Such a pleasant place to stay! All the amenities of home in a nice area! The best part is the friendliness & kindness of the staff! They were accommodating & helpful & kind! LIBBY was the sweetest because she allowed me to check-in early after a long night of driving! :-)

No ice machine on site - each room has a full fridge / freezer equipped with ice maker. The ice maker in our room did not work. Front desk said they would have maintenance check it but they never came. Remote to tv did not work, all the front desk did was give up some old batteries that did not work either. Went down next morning to speak to manager and she hid behind the office wall she would not come out to speak. The woman at the front desk just said okay I’ll let the manager know. I have never stayed at a placed where the manager hid to avoid knowing the customer saw them. This place is a joke.

We stayed at this hotel for a trip to Hershey. The rooms were nice, the beds were extremely comfortable, the location was great, and the pool was nice also. I would like to give a huge thank you to Nila, Pam for recommending the reeses cupcakes at Hershey, and to Sandy. The staff there was very helpful and courteous for our needs! The only thing I wish is that they had some kind of breakfast included. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting!

I wish I had looked at reviews before we booked this hotel. We booked it last minute and didn’t have to time to research it. The first concern we had was the sign at the front desk about a deposit for people staying within 30 miles of the hotel. I should have known then that this was not a good place to stay. They obviously have issues with people using it for parties and other nefarious reasons. The staff appears to feel the need to place signs throughout the hotel and room telling you what not to do. This is another bad sign that things aren’t right at the hotel. The hallways and elevator on the way to the room were well worn to say the least and the elevator had a strong weed smell. When we got to our room we were greeted with all of the dresser drawers being opened which was strange but then we discovered that they wouldn’t stay closed - what??? There were so many things about this room that were unacceptable. The recliner was dirty and the fabric was ripped and peeling away. There were stains on the sheets. The carpet looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. The fridge was filthy and had peeling paint. The cabinets were dirty and had peeling paint. The shelves were either stained with paint from the walls or had peeling paint themselves. We were only there for one night so I didn’t have time to fully inspect everything, which was probably good. If we hadn’t gotten in so late we would have left. This hotel needs a complete redo but in the meantime needs some serious TLC and deep cleaning. There are several other hotels in the area to choose from.

1. Room feels like a meat locker it’s so cold. Thermostat not working. Staff says they don’t know how to fix it and will send a technician tomorrow. Well, we are sleeping here tonight. Can’t even unplug the thing. 2. They have NO PILLOWS for the pull out couch. Was told the extra pillows are all under lock and key because old employees were stealing them. This is my problem because? 3. Timer in hot tub broken, again, was told it will be fixed tomorrow. This is night one of a two-night stay. Stay tuned, and we will see if the hotel makes things right.
