I actually stayed here a number of years ago when this was a different hotel, and it is vastly improved over what it used to be. It's an older hotel, so it's still a little rough around the edges even after some remodeling, but I really like the southwest aesthetic and the color schemes used around the complex. Upon check-in, there were fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies available at the front desk, which was a nice treat. The rooms look and feel very spartan but still have all the amenities you'd normally find in a hotel room. You also can't beat the location; it's literally right across the street from Matthew Knight Arena, so it's a perfect place to stay if you're attending a concert or sporting event or visiting a UofO student. I did notice the floor in our room was a little dirty around the base of the bedframe, as if whoever had swept/vacuumed had focused only on the main walking areas. The walls and doors also seemed pretty thin, and any foot traffic in the hallway was incredibly loud--luckily it quieted down overnight. The breakfast is a simple grab-and-go continental style, and while the offering is fairly limited, it's incredibly well presented. There are to-go cups with lids for granola and cereal, paper bags to pack things in, trays to take things back to your room, etc. If you're looking for a full hot breakfast, the Original Pancake House is just down the street and is a great choice. I'd stay here again next time I'm going to a game at MKA.

Stayed one night while visiting the university of Oregon. Very conventions and close to the university. Room was clean. Stayed in the back building which had interior hallways and a secure entrance which I liked. Rooms had refrigerators and microwave along with coffee machine. Rooms have hard floors and not carpet which I also liked. Plenty of free parking. Breakfast was also good. I appreciated that hey had breakfast sandwiches that could be heated in the room microwaves or by a microwave on the breakfast area.

We were in Eugene for a little over a week in August of 2024 and stayed at several hotels/motels on Franklin Blvd. Maverick Hotel - $229/night, loved the uniquely updated motel with two buildings, charming lobby area, the service was the best we had in Eugene, 4/5 stars. We also stayed at: (UO was having orientation, so it was hard to stay at one location - we were not attending orientation.) University Inn & Suites - $154/night, semi-updated motel, 2 stars. Haywood Inn - $207/night, 3 buildings - 4-story hotel & two 2-story hotel buildings, 5 stars. Best Western Motel - $210/night, refurbished motel, very average, 3 stars. Holiday Inn Express - $284/night, cookie-cutter new hotel with the highest price tag, 4 stars. Overall, we loved Eugene. Don't miss Hey Neighbor! Pizza House on 19th St.

Very nice update on an old property. Clean spartan rooms with everything you really need. The bed was a bit firm for my taste but otherwise flat and clean. Hardwood floors in an updated room. You'd have to look at specific hardware to date the building, things like the bathroom door knob or placement of outlets. Just about everything has been updated. The mini breakfast was a very good selection of grab stuff with GF options. You're not going to find much for low carb, though. Staff and location are excellent and the room was quite. Ground floor rooms in the main building have outside entrances so you can park right in front of them. I like this type of setup. No schlepping your bag down long hallways. Now that it's a member of Choice Hotels this will be my go-to place in Eugene.

Front desk staff were very friendly and I appreciated the fresh cookie. Although the owners have updated with fresh paint and new floors and comfy bedding, this is still clearly a typical motel, so don't expect the general atmosphere of your room to be high quality. I was in the separate building, on the first floor all the way at the far end. Room was pretty clean, although there was quite a pile of dirt and dog hair on the floor next to the door, like the cleaners propped the door to clean but never swept behind it. There was a sizeable gap between my door and the door jamb too, which let in quite a bit of light from the hallway, as well as sound from the room across the hall as they came and went. In addition, the room itself was one of two that were between the fire door and the end of the building, so it felt weirdly isolating (but maybe good in the end, due to the sound issue). I missed the breakfast the next day, but did get some pretty good coffee! There is a Starbucks next door, so that's handy. The BBQ place next door was closed and apparently has random hours, so don't plan on getting dinner there. I would stay here again if bringing my dog along on a trip, or if I wanted a lower priced option to a nicer hotel.
