Residence Inn by Marriott Bend

We stay at a lot of Marriott hotels and enjoy Residence Inns when we are going to stay for multiple days. We have stayed at this location multiple times. We had enough 'Bonvoy Points' to stay there 'free' this time. I think that is why we were given a smaller room than we have had in the past. It was fine, just smaller. The breakfast here is always good. The weekday kitchen staff that was working during our stay was exceptional. Our only complaint about this hotel is the $12/day parking. It's not downtown and although restaurants are 1/4 - 1/2 mile away, it's not in the midst of anything. It just seems a bit greedy considering its location.

Pros: Beautiful, elegant Decor. The Lobby area is lovely, with a fireplace, lots of seating and built-in bookcases. Ther is a small bar adjacent with happy hour. The pool/hot tub area is very clean, contemporary. The hot tub was always hot and clean with plenty of towels. Our room had 2 queen beds with a pullout couch, a full kitchen (dishes, pots and pans, plenty of dishes, corkscrew, etc. Large, well appointed bathroom with big mirror and walk-in shower. The included breakfast was always hot and delicious with plenty of choices for everyone. The staff are all top notch- from front desk to maintenance to bartender to breakfast staff. This hotel is an easy 8 minute walk to Old Mill shopping area. Cons: Just a couple: The foldout couch was VERY uncomfortable (as they all seem to be). We were charged $12.00 per day for parking when we didn't have a car (they did take this off our bill when we asked).

Everything was great about this hotel, except mobile check-in was not available when we tried many times 1.5 hours prior to our arrival. We needed to wait in the lobby till 4:45 pm for entering our room full of bleach smell. The front desk offered a complimentary free parking and later explained they're short on staff. I would suggest to do mobile check-in as early as you can.

When we checked in the first thing I noticed is that the bed looked floppy and messy, I pulled down the sheets and there was dirt and body hair in the bed, it obviously had been remade dirty. They switched us rooms and the next room was much cleaner. The breakfast options were awesome, I especially enjoyed all the oatmeal bar. Several things they advertised online turned out to not be accurate and that was disappointing. It stated they always had fresh coffee, but several times I went to get coffee during my stay, they were always empty. They advertise the Bond St Bar open until 10 pm. My husband came back from a concert at 9:40 and waited for a few minutes and nobody was there, apparently they closed early. On a concert night... lame.

So, great stay in a wonderful 2 bedroom suite, better than average breakfast, a 3 block walk to Mill District, friendly and accommodating staff. The location is a little off the grid with the Springhill Suites having a more enviable location - all things being equal. I wasn’t too keen about the $12/day parking fee. Still, wonderful lobby and impressive view from our suite.
