Chalet Motel

Great location to explore all of the Black Hills. We stayed for 3 nights at the beginning of our trip and really enjoyed it. We had a 2 room cabin and liked being able to put our kid to bed in one room and stay up in the other. Beds are super comfy. Couple little things: 1. The air conditioner is a window unit and is very loud. It took awhile to cool the place off, but once it did, it was fine. I didn't mind the noise for sleeping purposes. Our son didn't like it, so he slept in the front room by the door, which wasn't ideal, but worked fine. 2. Shower pressure was pretty weak, so it takes awhile to rinse off, but also not a huge deal. Their breakfast is already in your room (muffins, fruit, juice and yogurt). They were very good about checking if we needed anything else or we could stop in the lobby and grab an extra muffin if needed. Staff were super helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay again.

We had a double room with a bathroom in between - perfect! Very clean and friendly - Elizabeth and Michelle were fun to work with. A few blocks away from downtown, great coffee next door. Quaint and generally quiet. Definitely would stay again

This little motel was adorable. The staff was nice and come around with a basket of breakfast grab and go items the evening prior. Our room had a bench outside. The bed was comfortable, but pillows were a bit hard. The room was very clean. A coffee pot and coffee in the room. All the Custer restaurants and shops were within a short walk. Miner's Cup next door had great coffee shop drinks and breakfast sandwiches.

If you like curio / historic properties while getting great value for your travel $ (a rare combination) this is the place for you. Great little motor park motel from the 1930s, well restored / preserved; a travel destination site in its own right. You get to experience a chapter from the great car travel era nearly lost to the ages; this place is now pushing 100 years old but certainly not worse for wear. Check out the vintage photos in the office / lobby of the place through its lifetime. Great set up - you park right outside your front door; great privacy as each cottage has its own four walls, no stairs to climb or elevator to wait on then pack into with strangers. Old school keys too. Complimentary microwaveable breakfast items, very generous. In a very convenient location for Rushmore / Crazy Horse / Custer State Park and many, many other parks and sites in the area. Young, European couple own/run it, and are very nice people who genuinely want you to have a great experience, which you will. Will absolutely return next trip.

After looking at reviews and seeing photos we were excited to arrive here, it looked really cute on arrival until we were shown our room. We were in a dark space between chalets and our ‘room’ was literally a back HALF of a chalet which was dark, no windows and really cramped. Yes it was clean and all the staff were nice and friendly and it was an easy stroll into town. Our booking with booking.com said Delux double room which it was not. Nowhere on the website or in any reviews did it mention some room’s being HALF a chalet as we would not have booked. We were on a three week road trip and stayed in thirteen motels across three states and although this was cleaner than some this was our biggest disappointment. Custer town was great especially the Purple Pie which we walked to twice.
