Astoria Crest Motel

What a gem of a place!! This is THE place to stay in Astoria. Beautiful lobby, breakfast area, patio, hot tub all looking over the Columbia River. Great friendly employees. We loved watching the sunset from the hot tub. need I say more. Please experience the Trolley ride when visiting Astoria, a wealth of information.

This is a lovely hotel tucked away off a main road north of Astoria. It sits on a bluff overlooking the Columbia River and most of the rooms have a beautiful view of the river. The room was large and clean. The free breakfast was very good and the breakfast room was large. There's a hot tub an a nice seating area around a firepit. It was very quiet. We would definitely stay here again.

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars, but there were some problems. The worst was that the people in the room next door had two dogs, which they left in the room while they left the motel for several hours. Their dogs never stopped barking, for hours! Several other guests and I were upset, but the front desk could do nothing about it. They tried calling the guests on the phone number they registered with, but to no avail. The motel needs a pet policy that enforces the rules with a monetary penalty. I did NOT get the sleep I needed because the dogs barked late into the night. The same people let their dogs out of their room to relieve themselves, unleashed and unsupervised. This caused my own dog to become restless, seeing dogs wandering outside. (Luckily my dog is not a barker.). The owners never realized one of their dogs hadn't returned to the room, and were outside MY room yelling for their dog because it had wandered off (30 minutes or so later.). Again, this was against the pet policy, but nothing was done. On top of all that, the beds are WAY too soft; they are not comfortable. I heard other guests complaining of the same thing at breakfast. The room was very clean. Wifi was good. The view is OUTSTANDING. The breakfast they served was good. I really like that they had assigned parking spaces. If this motel does something about enforcing their pet policy, and replaces their mattresses, it will be 5 star.

This is a lovely little motel with killer views, but the service is sorely lacking. It was the worst check-in I have had in many years of traveling. The front desk person was new, and although her manager was supposedly on call, she was by herself and there was a line of exasperated guests lined up waiting to check in. I hope this was an anomaly because I really like the vibe of this place. It’s not fancy, but it’s comfortable, clean, and has a hot tub and good breakfast selection. And did I mention the views?!

Stayed for three very pleasant nights. The rooms have a wonderful view of the Columbia River - we watched the barges and saw several cruise ships go by. It was not fancy - but very clean and comfortable. The staff and host were very pleasant and helpful. And very reasonable rates. We hope to go back someday.
