Clarion Inn Surfrider Resort

Do not stay here! It is horrible. This hotel is completely run down. The room is in really bad shape. Brown water coming out of sink. restaurant has been permanently shut down. Rude front desk staff. This is a clarion hotel! They should be ashamed.

A sheet handed out on arrival explained the the motel is due for demolition prior to rebuilding. The on-site restaurant is permanently closed and the spa wasn't working, Had I known ahead of time, I'd have booked elsewhere, or at least brought my own food. The price was comparable to more up-to-date lodging, with no breakfast. A verse from the New Testament was prominently displayed in the lobby. Unless a place is advertised as being owned/run by either a religious or political group, please leave those references out of my travels The ocean views were as terrific as ever.

I try my best to give honest & sencere reviews. I hope I can prevent others from making the same mistake we did. This hotel was the worst. The description on their web page & hotels.com is false, this place is a dump!! Rooms were dirty, bed linens were stained with something black, windows broken, one room smelled musty moldy and the other smelled like someone cleaned fish in it, the balcony was not maintained (paint was gone, boards worn, & bird crap everywhere), The overall property is very outdated, not maintained, and didn't feel safe. We had checked in and went to our rooms. After seeing how the rooms were, we went back to the office and checked out, but Mr. Jamey didn't complete the checkout. He said it was still in processing and couldn't give us anything, but if someone called, he wouldn't lie. Yea right!! Don't waste your money on this awful property. Hotels.com should be ashamed for not looking out for their customers. Both companies are stealing your money and don't care.

There were few issues that ultimately led to us staying elsewhere. They are supposed to be remodeling or rebuilding; I sure hope so! The lobby was dingy, dusty and disorganized. We paid an extra $20 online to check in early- apparently you only get one hour before normal check in. Also $20 to check out later if you’d like. The person working the front desk was rude and dismissive. We were not greeted when we went in, basically scolded when I asked to check in and told I’d have to get ready for the funeral we were attending, elsewhere. Outside was more like a motel set up with balcony backside entrance. The pool is in a separate area and it was dirty and looked like it was going to fall apart. The view was great but other than that it was a no. It looked nothing like the pictures. I was hoping for a nice place to surprise my boyfriend and it was anything but. I don’t recommend going until they remodel or rebuild and maybe find a new desk person, especially for the price!

1st we hear they are going to tear down & rebuild starting oct 2024. I hope so! We got room 69. Near a handicap ramp & up 1/2 flight stairs. 1st pic with chairs & rug. Shower faucet needs replacement. Screen in small window missing so flies came in. With All of these units you share balcony with 1 neighbor. See pics. Now if you have another couple friends or family with you, sharing is fine but we opened for some air & saw neighbors 2 ft away. We moved to #73 & he said will try & keep #72 empty for us. This is end bldg & no pets. Adults only. All seems to be working here & shower separate from tub. Has a sink in kitchen area. The view is better in the upper units but we still see ocean from this one. Bushes in front. To get to beach you need to drive fogarty creek park then walk under road. Easy flat walk. I wouldnt stay here again but will try new when built. Sharing doorway to deck is weird esp if strangers are next door.
