Royal Inn Motel

Nice motel with welcoming friendly owner. We tuned up unplanned as it was right off the motorway and next to a diner. Room was clean and had all you need for a stay over and very good value for money.

We arrived late at night and though I worked about the area, it was actually a quite tourist friendly area. We were handed an actual door key which is different. Pros.. clean, quiet area, seemingly safe, friendly service. Cons... Hard mattress on spring frame (squeak), very dated with very few outlets, a vent cover near the floor next to the door that connects to nothing, just another vent cover in the hallway. Every room has this. Not sure if it was part of the old heating/ ac unit or what, but it's just 2 vent covers patching a hole from what we could tell. Since we just needed a plane to rest a few hours this worked, but they should really update our put pads on the mattresses.

Our stay on April 29-22 was good. The room was very clean and was painted recently. We could see some of the work the owner was doing to freshen up the hotel. We appreciated the value for money. Convenient and just a few miles north of Watertown so we found it quiet but easily accessible to Watertown. Would recommend it for a short stay as it doesn’t have many amenities but clean and fairly quiet.

We were in town to visit family. Booked 4 nights, stayed 3. Paid in advance no refund and were charged additional for a pet (not on our confirmation.) Pros Pet friendly, but expect sizable extra charges* Low price * Easy to find Cons Tiny room, no closet This place is beyond run down. Leaky toilet, dents and gouges out of drywall, ancient and loud heat/air unit Poor security ie poorly working door latch and windows The bed was hard as rocks Stingy with towels, no shampoo etc. Owner was abrupt. So as in another review, the halls smelled like curry, but not unpleasant. It wasn't comfortable and not very clean. We packed well so toiletries not a problem, but we managed to all get sick.....and no one we visited were sick or got sick, so my money is on it coming from The Royal inn.

Old motel. Our room was small, clean, good A/C, micro, fridge, no coffee maker. Coffee in hall at 7:00. No breakfast. Plenty of ice. The diner across the road is OK. Overall, not a good value. It is cheap for the area, but I would try another budget motel.
