Red Roof Inn PLUS Columbus Downtown Convention Center

Clean and comfortable, great location, staff was nice, perfect parking situation. I was even given a corner room with some nice views of the city. However I didn't particularly appreciate that two of the light fixtures didn't even work. The one in the ceiling by the TV and the one above the sink in the bathroom. The latter made it kind of dark in there. I would stay here again, but I hope all of the lights are working.

We stay at this Hotel several times a year. We usually love it for the location and cost effectiveness. Currently sitting in the lobby 40 minutes before check in time. They want a $25 early check in fee for 45 minutes. Never encountered this here before if rooms are available. While I understand rules I find it a little excessive. Beware out of town travelers. We’ve experienced unsavory people in and out of the public lobby in the past.

We have stayed at this hotel a number of times. This stay there were several things that make me think that the place is going downhill. First, maid service is now available only on request. There are no longer tissues or laundry bags in the rooms. They discontinued the complimentary breakfast due to covid (as did most places) but never reinstated it. This is an old building and is kept reasonably clean but it is really beginning to signs of age. If management does not believe that their guests don't notice this things, they are mistaken. Apparently the owners are trying to hold down expenses. If this is really the situation then this hotel is headed in the wrong direction.

I noticed two bogus charges on my bill upon checkout. One $3.00 charge for safety deposit box and another $3.00 for limited safety deposit box insurance. What kind of BS is this? I never used the box so I challenged the charges. The front desk worker told me I had to call and talk to a manager on Monday. I know it’s only $6.00 but it’s a scam. I’m sure not many people would take the time to even notice this charge much less ask for a refund. Which means Red Roof gets hundreds of extra dollars every night from unsuspecting customers

Spent one night here on a bike ride across Ohio. The Red Roof Plus is a bare bones budget hotel, but it was adequate for my needs. The hotel lacks amenities like breakfast -- the rooms don't even have Kleenex. That said, my room was clean and quiet. I appreciated that I could bring my bike to the room and that the hotel has guest laundry. I didn't feel unsafe, nor did I witness any outsiders using the elevators, but I did smell marijuana in the corridor. There are many hotel options in Columbus -- if this is all that will fit your budget, it will work.
