I called the Hilton Netherland Plaza to discuss an issue I had with a reservation made by a third party. Tanesha answered the phone and was so polite, understanding and helpful, I wanted to mention her here. She explained the situation and pointed me in the right direction to get the issue resolved. Hilton is lucky to have her as an employee, she provided amazing customer service! We've stayed at this location numerous times while visiting Cincinnati and it's our "go to" hotel when we are in town. If you're a diamond member make sure to take advantage of the complimentary breakfast buffet in the executive lounge (M-F only) plus you still get your food and beverage credit. One piece of advice, rather than let your food and Bev credit go to waste, you can order a soft drink at the bar and tip BIG to use up that credit as a thank-you to the hardworking staff at this great hotel! We look forward to our next stay at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza.

After spending several nights at the Netherland Plaza, I'm still not entirely sure what to make of this property. The lobby, bar, and restaurant areas are nothing short of spectacular! The art deco design makes it feel like you're stepping back into the 1930s in all the best ways. It's a really beautiful introduction to the hotel. But when I walked into my room, I felt like I was walking into the 1930s, and not in a good way. My room felt outdated and oddly designed. It wasn't very functional. In the bathroom there's a pedestal sink, no cabinet space and minimal shelf space. I laid out my toiletries on the room's desk because there was nowhere else to put them. The room was long but narrow. As a result, a single chair, the TV, and a dresser were all against the far window wall. The corner of the bed was inches from the edge of the dresser, requiring me to scoot past it sideways to reach that space. I appreciate the art deco welcome, but a more 21st century room would have been far more comfortable. With that said, the staff at this hotel were all wonderful. Every person I encountered was super nice and welcoming, and the bar staff mix a wicked cocktail! (Try their old fashioned - the ice cube is unlike anything I'd seen before.) Did I enjoy staying here? Meh. Would I stay here again? Probably not. And I say this as a Hilton Honors member. If I'm going to stay at a major hotel property, I want more thought put into my room as that's where I'll be spending the majority of my time . . . not in the historic and well-appointed lobby.

Stayed here for the first time as it was the host hotel of a conference I attended. I'd always heard how great this hotel is, so I was excited to stay. However, I left very underwhelmed by the whole experience. So here's the pros/cons of my stay. Pros - location - downtown Cincy and in walking distance of several eateries and attractions. hotel staff - all were friendly restaurant - reasonably priced for a hotel Location of parking - attached parking garage (but it is NOT affiliated with the hotel, - see con below Room - was clean and this hotel actually provides maid service daily without you having to request it. For the most part, didn't hear noise from other rooms. Cons - room - the shower didn't work in my room. the water came on but only into the tub and it was barely lukewarm. I ended up moving rooms. New room's shower worked but the water was even cooler. This was interesting since the sink water in both rooms was hot. Also no microwave in the rooms and no option to request one. There's one small microwave in the lobby - the hotel has at least 29 floors! That's a lot of people needing to share one dorm room sized microwave Noise - not sure if hotel is remodeling or a nearby building but lots of loud drilling during the day. So much for an afternoon nap between meetings. Elevators - several just weren't running leading me to have to carry my luggage up and down steps to get from parking garage entrance to hotel lobby (coming and going). There was an elevator bank of 6, but on the last night, only three were operating. It took about 40 minutes to get from Mezzanine to my room floor. Finally gave up and went down in order to go back up. staff - pointed out shower issue to maid as soon as I discovered it. she said she would have it addressed. I don't know if you put in an order or not because when I checked with hotel front desk that evening they had no record of a problem. It's now about 11 pm. The front desk sent someone one right up and he determined it could not be fixed immediately and I needed to switch rooms. I packed up all my stuff and switched to a new floor. No problem, at least I have a shower for the morning. However, As mentioned above water in this room was just too cool to stand under, so I had to "shower" by just letting the water run and splash as need to soap up and rinse (same thing I had to do in the first room where the shower wouldn't come on at all). accommodating room change - upon checking out I asked if they offered any accommodations for me having to switch rooms. Staff initially started to ask if I had reported the problem, but stopped herself mid-sentence because obviously I did since they switched my rooms. She then told, who I assumed was a supervisor, that I wanted some form of compensation for the inconvenience. She comes back with an offer for a free breakfast at their buffet. I declined since I was literally checking out to leave. After some back and forth with her, I was offered points toward a future stay. restaurant - attempted to eat lunch but I couldn't be seated because they were "full". They had about 20 customers in the bar area. The rest of the place was empty and only opened to people who came with a "large" party. this was confusing to me since this is a conference hosting hotel - you can only feed 20 people at a time for lunch???? I was able to eat an early dinner Saturday by going at 4 pm parking - the self parking is a garage that is attached to hotel, but the hotel does not own or operate it. It's $35/night but there are no attendants or check in/out stations. Everything is done via an app after you scan a QR code with your phone and enter your credit card info. The app is user friendly for app savy people. LOL Tip... if you are a hotel guest and spending the night you want the "in and out" pass. I finally figured this out after being charged for my first 4 hours separately. Second tip... don't bother asking hotel staff, none of the ones I approached for assistance could answer any questions. This is not the worst hotel but it doesn't live up to the hype around it at all!

This hotel is a timeless classic...and yet retains a warm, comfortable and cozy feeling that almost hugs you without pretense. Although we were only here overnight, we took the time to tour the stunning architecture and amazing furnishings of the lobby, mezzanine, Hall of Mirrors and even the arcade of the Carew Tower next door which, sadly, is a shell of its former self. A classic beauty like this needs proper care and maintenance and you can tell that the staff have gone to great lengths and expense to keep her looking and running her best despite her age! Our room (a suite which was at one time two separate rooms) was perfect and two bathrooms meant we weren't fighting for time! There are a few noisy quirks to be had with any old structure but they only add to the charm. While we didn't partake in any of the food or beverage options, they are plentiful and presented in beautiful settings. Don't pass up an opportunity to enjoy a stay in this historic venue and experience the classic beauty of this hotel... They truly don't build them like this anymore!

Nice common areas that need help - but the rooms are so much worse and need CPR. The room on a slow night as a diamond member was small and sad. Dinged walls and furniture. Check-in staff was nice and the bar is beautiful. Needs a lot of work on the rooms.
