Home2 Suites by Hilton Salisbury

I stayed at this hotel last year and loved it. This year, the price has doubled and now they’re requiring a fee of $11/day to park on site. I feel when I’m paying $200+ per night, I shouldn’t have to pay to park. Unfortunately I won’t be staying here a third year.

Stayed at Home2 Suites by Hilton in Salisbury while visiting the Polar Express. The distance from the Polar Express was very convenient. The hotel was very clean and the staff was helpful. We were very disappointed in the breakfast as it was very limited and the staff was unable to keep things on the bar for guests. The options were limited as well and so the breakfast was not satisfactory at all. Like others we were surprised when the parking fee was added to the final bill. We were not advised of this charge until it was seen on the final receipt. This was an added charge that I felt was dishonest and just a way to nickel and dime guests that are already paying a more than average price to stay at their hotel. Overall a good hotel but a few things that were not hospitable would make me question a stay here again.

The hotel was very clean and friendly. We were checked by Lori. She was very accommodating and helpful. We were there for The PolarExpress that was 6 miles away. The hotel had coffee and tea offered around the clock. Our rooms were spotless. It was a great place to stay.

I've stayed at this property a number of times over the years. On my most recent stay upon parking, I noticed the parking lot is now populated with signs demanding that you download an app and pay for parking online. This, on a property that advertises free parking. Luckily, I did not follow the signs, and inside the front desk person told me I could ignore the signs because the pay-for-parking system was not set up yet. Good thing, because the parking lot is small for the property, nearly full on late arrival, and has extremely tight spaces if you drive an SUV or the like. All parking is on the side of the building, and a long walk to the door. I'm sure there are some local building codes that forced the design of the building/parking layout, or maybe it's just profit motive squeezing this hotel into a too-small area, but it's certainly not user friendly. Coming from the interstate, you have to make a U-turn on a heavily trafficked road in order to reach this parking lot. Possibly just inconvenient, but at times, dangerous. They should probably buy the EconoLodge next door and tear it down to provide a decent entrance and enough parking. Other than that, it's a typical Home2 Suites with nice large rooms and comfortable beds. The breakfast was fine and well stocked. Staff was accommodating of my rant when I told them the day they charge for parking (in Salisbury by the interstate, mind you), will be the day I choose the EconoLodge instead. If you're not going to implement the system, would it cost that much to cover or tear down the signs? Bad PR, cheap solution.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable although the ac did seem to struggle in our room. Most of the staff were very nice.and helpful. However the manager of this establishment was extremely underhanded, rude, and unprofessional. I paid in full but she insisted I owed more money and tried to charge my card again. I showed proof of what I already paid. Days after checking out the same manager tried to charge my card again for a cleaning fee. The entire trip I was discriminated against because my family isn't African American.
