Courtyard by Marriott Raleigh Midtown

Great hotel for a great price. We were visiting to look at apartments and had a great stay. The staff was super friendly when checking in and out. I'm not sure if the the lobby was recently renovated or just well-kept, but it was very nice. Our room was on the ground floor, which may be an issue for some, but it worked out great for us. To get to our car, we just walked out our door basically, super convenient. We did not take advantage of the amenities or food, so I cannot speak on those. For what we paid, we were super happy with our experience.

Could not wait to check out. Miserable experience and really unhelpful staff. During the 18 hours I was there, the heat malfunctioned, there were illicit activities going on all night next door (you can hear everything the walls are so thin) , & there were suspicious people in the parking lot looking into my car. I called the front desk at night to assist with the heat & the manager refused to tell me how to reset myself. I was in my pajamas and didn’t want anyone near me. Then when I told them about the other incidents I was ignored. Didn’t sleep the whole night. Waste of money & worst hotel stay of my life.

Stayed here twice. Both times terrible. First time absolutely disgusting, told by the front desk to avoid the elevator, also a brown smudge in my room. Second time upon checking in, I was told that the elevators don’t work and I have to lug my suitcase up the stairs. When I remarked about this, the front desk employee told me ‘I have stayed at other hotels that don’t have working elevators’ as if this is ok at almost $300 a night. Both stays there has been an incredible amount of hair in the bathroom and the rooms are just not clean. Would avoid.

Poor follow through after I had an allergic reaction from dog hair in my room. They admitted their mistake and offered me Bonvoy point equivalent to maybe $90. Eventually promised pts. Equivalent to a night’s stay. Still waiting on my points.

On the positive side, the room was clean and the staff was friendly. But... If you enjoy a tiny room, a tiny bathroom, a tiny nightstand and room for only one suitcase, then stay here. If you brought your own usb ports, not expecting Marriott to update their electronics offering, stay here. If you enjoy a farmed out, $33 Starbucks breakfast (banana, breakfast muffin and two coffees), this hotel is for you. We will not stay here again.
