Love this hotel's design and location! Dinner was also excellent. I was traveling with some friends and had a chance to see three different rooms - all very different in their own way. Even though the rooms are on the small side, the use of fun colors, elegant wallpaper and light fixtures, and the art collection all make up for it. Dinner did not disappoint... a unique wine list, great cocktails, and the entrees seemed to have something for everyone. Location can't be beat, downtown Highlands, walk-able to it all.

Quaint older inn located in the heart of Highlands, NC. Staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was cozy. Unfortunately there were a few drawbacks during our stay in room #2 on the first floor. The long weekend in January was COLD, our second night the temperatures dropped to 5 degrees. That was when the in room heat went out. We noticed the heat was not working prior to our reservations that evening at a nearby restaurant. We told the young man at the front desk who tried in vain to get the heat to work. He asked when we would be back from dinner and stated he would get someone to look at the unit prior to our return. When we returned at 9:30pm the entire place was locked up, thankfully they include a key to the front door with your room key. As we entered the room we noticed it was very COLD and the heat was still not working. Unfortunately, no one was available at the front desk as it appeared they were closed for the night. An emergency number was listed and we left a message but no one returned our call or arrived at our room. To top it off there were no extra blankets in the room either. Needless to say, the night was very uncomfortable. Around 3:30am in the morning a smoke detector started chirping due to a low battery. Finally around 9:00am we got up and started packing as it was too cold to stay in bed or take a shower. We notified the young lady at the front desk of our uncomfortable night but all she could offer was an apology. The location was great, the staff were friendly, but we will not stay there again.

This charming inn did not disappoint. Details about the eclectic interiors can be found in the many editorial reviews online. It was the combination of the cozy setting and remarkable staff that made for the perfect getaway. Even during a village-wide power outage and major winter snow storm, that shut the town down for a day, the staff, especially Adrianna, made certain we were well cared for. Yes, the king bedrooms can be quite tight, as the rooms were designed in 1885 for nothing larger than a double bed I imagine. If possible, I suggest the main house rooms over the bunkhouse for a bit larger room size and convenience to the bar and fireside lounges. Thank you HMH, we will be back to enjoy this sweet spot again.

I can’t say enough about this quaint, darling little inn!!! Our family of 7 “took over the place” during a picturesque snow storm! They made hot Coco for our kids every time they came in from the snow, played hide and seek with them.. told them the best spots!💕, made the best drinks and desserts for us🥂… and upgraded us to the king room! We LOVE this amazing getaway spot! Thank you for such a fun trip HMH!!!

We ate dinner at Ruffed Grouse on Christmas Day. Our server, Samantha, was wonderful!! She was very attentive throughout the meal. The appetizer of Devils on Horseback was delicious as was our meal of soup and salad. Very enjoyable Christmas experience!!
