I arrived 9/26 for a funeral the next day. That was when Western North Carolina had so much water dumped on it that they had historical floods. When I left home, the weather reports were just calling for rain. There was no expectation of what actually ended up happening. I arrived in the rain and much later than I expected due to the weather. When I made my reservation, the website said they had showers or tubs. I specifically requested a tub. The drive was supposed to be an 8 Hours (turned into a 12 Hour drive) and I am disabled and I knew that I would be in a lot of pain when I got there. A soak in a tub would have been nice. The front desk person who checked me in said there was no record of my request and I would not be getting a tub. The next morning, we woke up to no power, I had no cellular, there was no breakfast and reading some reviews people complain there weren’t enough hot items, there weren’t even cold items out. I understand the surprise of having no power for one day, butmanagement/owners didn’t show up for two days. I watched the employees struggle to help people as much as they could, but they are employees with very limited abilities without the owners to direct them. So we were stuck where we were, no food, eventually no water, no Internet, no way to make phone calls, and the owners did not come to check on their property for two days. When they did show up, they had a big fight in the lobby. It was a husband and wife team screaming, in the most unprofessional display I have ever seen out in public from people who own a business. Apparently they were upset that the person who was working Thursday was unable to go home so she stayed and continued to work. Believe me they needed that extra help. Because the lobby was the best place to get fresh air and decent lighting most of the people stuck there hung out in the lobby. I was able to find out that the owners didn’t show up for two days and they weren’t flooded out, they just didn’t come in. They didn’t feel responsible at all for the people staying there. Someone else staying there, went out and found somewhere open briefly and bought cases of water and snacks for everyone. I feel like the owners, who were supposed to be providing at the very least the breakfast we paid for, should have been doing that. When I left on Sunday they had still done nothing. Apparently they don’t have any back up linens and they weren’t letting any other people check in by then because they couldn’t wash anything. Another example of their poor attitude towards their customers was when they finally did get there I tried to speak to who I was told was the husband about not having any idea how to get out of that area and there was no Internet for me to use GPS. I don’t know that area at all. The funeral was canceled. My family was on the other side of some flooding although I was safe. When I’m staying at a hotel I expect employees to be helpful. I really expect owners to be helpful after they’ve spent two days not caring about what’s going on at their property. Anyway, when I tried to speak to that gentleman, he was very unhelpful. The most helpful employee they had is the one they came in and screamed at for five minutes straight, and then fired her. It went on for so long and was so inappropriate. I started recording it. A few years ago, I stayed at the Hampton Inn nearby and the room smelled awful so I decided to try the Ramada. The only good thing I can say about this property is that the room did not stink. The floors looked clean, but they turned the bottoms of my socks black. When I checked out, since there was still no power, I had to get my luggage down from the second floor using stairs and couldn’t get any help. I’m 66 and disabled. I saw people older than me trying to get downstairs with luggage. There were no employees to help us. I can tell you no one was cleaning rooms, changing linens, making breakfast or any of the things they would normally be doing. They didn’t seem able to adapt and help their customers in the ways that were needed.

This hotel is a bit tired and could use some sprucing up. The room was basic and clean. Front desk staff was not the friendliest and a bit on the slow side. They could only give one key per room, which I never understood. We were fortunate to get a room after our VRBO for my sister’s wedding cancelled due to damage from Helene, so we couldn’t be picky.

The staff was nice and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was basic but good and filling. The outside looks a little rundown but the inside was nice.

The hotel overall was very nice, well kept and clean with plenty of lights and comfy seating area. The cleaning staff is very nice and kept up with necessary supplies. Breakfast eggs horrible, but there are several other items to eat, plus many close by restaurants-I recommend Fireside. Bed mattresses are saggy & lumpy, but not to the point that you can't sleep. Great convenient location to 26 & 64.
