Even while undergoing new construction, I had the best experience you can have as a business traveler because of Daphne and Mariah. I canât imagine staying anywhere else because of their dedication and willingness to be helpful. Daphne and Mariah never think in terms of no, they think how. If you are traveling to the NYC area and donât stay here that is your loss!

Experienced the same as other reviewers. My chair was gross to the point I refused to sit on it. Stains on furniture, chaise, handle on drapes broke when I went to close them, and decor that looks mid 80's although it apparently opened in 2009. Basically an upscale motel room at this point, with the added joy of high prices. I hope the reno can rescue it because the location is great, but I couldn't wait to leave. Thankfully the sheets and bed were clean. I get the reno, but seriously guys do better.

I was given a standard room directly across from the elevator area which made the room noisy all night long. Not even a free bottle of water in the room, which is to say zero Bonvoy status recognition beyond the welcome gift amenity that they are required to offer (I am lifetime Platinum). Blinds do not fully close and the rooms all face the rising sun, so good luck sleeping in. Check in is currently in a coat closet. Recommend that you stay somewhere else, there is no W vibe here.

While we always loved staying at the W when we had plans in the city and likewise recommended same to friends and relatives coming to metro area, it unfortunately has lost its luster. W promotes itself as modern "luxury" or luxury liberated, but our recent stay (w/e 2/15) was anything but luxurious. The hotel does disclose on its website that it is in the process of remodeling public areas and rooms, so we expected diminished access or perhaps limited room choice. We did not expect a deteriorated room and non-existent luxury. We asked for a room on an upper floor and the W did deliver a twelfth-floor accommodation. Regrettably, however, the room would not meet even the most generous definition of luxury. The desk chair was completely abraded, the round lounge chair by window had both tears and stains, the shower mirrors were de-silvered and as I went to take a shower, I realized the bathroom had none of its previously offered/ expected toiletries (shower cap and its other "vanity" items). I add that on another occasion (in the immediate 'post-pandemic period') we likewise had no toiletries, but on that occasion wrote it off to pandemic aftermath. Since this was a repeat occurrence well beyond pandemic turmoil, when I called the whatever whenever line reporting the absence of shower cap and such, I expressly asked if the hotel was no longer providing same or if we had to expressly request same before arrival. I was assured that was not the case. It seems it was just a repeat failure by both housekeeping and any supervisor. As noted, we acknowledge the hotel disclosed it was renovating, but itâs hard to imagine they let all the rooms deteriorate to the level we encountered before remodeling. Presumably, the remodel starts with the rooms in the worst condition so begs the question: this was the best the W had to offer? The room (booked through W Hotel not a 3rd party) did not come with a disclaimer or a âdeterioration discountâ rate. Consequently, it was a very poor representation of the âluxuryâ brand despite luxury brand price. On the positive side, the whatever whenever staff was pleasant when we spoke, and they did promptly dispatch someone to the room with the missing items so we could get ready. The server who brought room service was also a bright spot with his welcoming smile and attitude, although the in-room dining menu was lack-luster. Perhaps the W will reclaim its pre-pandemic luxury-state post-renovation, but until then, it is a disappointment and poor value.

Excellent hotel, suuuuper quiet, great staff, great breakfast. Love it! Amazing rooms, especially the suites. Great views of the city. And super quiet compared to being in NYC proper. This is ther only place I stay in NYC area now. Thanks a lot
