This has been the worst Marriott I have ever stayed in. The curtains and blankets had stains all over them. Carpet has stains on them table has handwritten graffiti on the tables. Also, the chain on the door was broken. No other rooms available

First time here. I stayed here due to an event being here. I would not have stayed here, otherwise. It is downtown, and not all that convenient in many ways. This was an old hotel and Marriott has redone it. There are still many, many old features. Some are not useful or helpful. I had a very late flight and had trouble getting into the hotel. The doors were all locked. My uber drive kindly waited for me until a security guard finally came down to let me in. The public areas are old and lovely. The room I had was not well-designed. The armoire was very small and there was no place to hang a dress. At 5'1'' tall, if the area is too short for my dresses to hang, that means no one else can hang a dress, either. I had to move the little fridge so I could hang up my dresses (not long dresses, but work clothing) Shower head is very weak. Inadequate lighting for work, even with the curtains pulled back and all of the lights on. Coffee maker placed too high to be safe to use. Had to move the entire contraption to the desk. Housekeeping was erratic. Some days they did not make up room until 6pm (!), despite my leaving the property at 730 am and not having a DND sign up. I very much enjoyed the event. Prob would not stay here if I had to return to SYR, though.

Marriott can put all the beautiful photos of the exterior of the hotel on their website and how much money was spent in renovations, but it all comes down to the fact that when you put a pink ribbon on a dog, in the end it's still a dog. I was very disappointed in my stay at the Syracuse Marriott downtown. The temperture outside when I was there was mostly around 35 F but the inside of the hotel lobby was probably about 65. It felt like I was entering a dark, dingy, post office of the 1920s. The only place that was bright and warm was my room (after adjusting the thermostat. A lot of very old lamps in the room. Here are the negatives: No restaurants or any other entertainment withing walking distance of the hotel. Just a lot of old dilapidated buildings. You have 2 in house restaurant choices. Eleven Waters, which was great for breakfast but closed for lunch. When it reopens for dinner at 6 PM the menu is very limited and ecletic, not to mention over-priced and empty. Your only other in house choice was a restaurant feturing mostly pub-like food. It was open all day. Limited menu and cold inside. Neither one was well-populated at any of the 6 meals I had at them. In fact I overheard staff remarking how empty the restaurants were. I had a mouse in my room. The redocoration of the walls in the rooms i.e. wall paper was poorly applied. The positives: Beds were great. Clean. TV system was modern and had a great selection of channels . Netflix and Max were on the menu but were not free. Breakfast at 11 Waters was great. Service was exceptional. Bottom LIne: I want to say Marriott quality is slipping everywhere and this hotel is no exception. I would neither recommend this hotel to anyone nor would I stay there again. Looks like its backed to the Hilton chain.

Pros: - Feels like a step back in time with modern amenities. - Expansive rooms with historic touches. - One of the best M Clubs - open 24/7 with a plethora of snacks and beverages. - Exercise room with a view. Cons: - Parking garage across the street is $19/night. - Smaller and older in-room TVs. - Rooms - while very clean - starting to show wear and tear. - M-shaped design means many rooms face each other (i.e., limited view).

We enjoyed our stay at the historic Marriott hotel location in downtown Syracuse. The hotel provided good service during a very busy weekend when the hotel was fully booked. As this hotel is located is a historic property the rooms are a little small.
