Honestly the only reason to stay is its proximity to SU. So many other chain hotels offer so much more for the money ie: free breakfast, parking etc. There should be more value for price especially since next door is now a construction zone. And if you're going to raise prices for events, special dates then make the place special - still the thinnest walls in NY State and too much air freshner in the room - hmmmmmm

**3/5 Stars - Disappointing Stay at the Collegiate Hotel, Syracuse, NY** My recent stay at the Collegiate Hotel was a bit of a letdown. The room was cramped and outdated, with chipped and splattered paint on the walls. I was unsettled by red stains of unknown origin on the bathroom door frame and shower curtain—hardly the welcome you want. The bathroom itself was a bit of a relic, featuring a dwarf-sized, uncomfortably low toilet and rough, exfoliating towels that felt more like sandpaper. The tiny chip of soap provided was laughable, and both the shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the shower were bone dry. The bed was no better—half-sized pillows, thin bedding, and a firm, unforgiving mattress. Thankfully i did not hear much hallway noise or noise from other rooms. The in-room coffee maker looked so grimy I didn’t dare touch it, fearing what germs it might harbor. On the plus side, the lobby was nice, and the front desk staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, but that’s where the positives end. The hotel’s proximity to Syracuse University is convenient, but not worth enduring the subpar conditions especially on dates where they are charging a premium price. To top it off, self-parking cost an extra $10 per night, and the “free” coffee in the lobby was barely drinkable. If you have any other options in Syracuse, take them. This place feels like a last resort for a reason—dated, uncomfortable, and in desperate need of a refresh.

Great place to stay, clean, comfortable, and very convenient to the Syracuse campus. The staff is so friendly, the hotel offers easy, free parking, and the rooms and lobby were spacious and nicely decorated. We will stay there again on future visits!

I am deeply disappointed at my experience at the Collegian. After a long, cold day, all I wanted was a warm bath. The bath tub stopper didn’t work. Your desk clerk called the manager and the advice you gave was to “stop the tub with a towel.” Are you kidding me? Josanique was kind enough to try to move us to a new room. I tested the tub before moving my things. The drain stopper worked. But when I tried to drain the water, it didn’t drain out. So I pulled up the drain and found a disgusting hairball. I would have taken a picture, but it was so gross. And with today’s weather of 37/43F and no heat?? This is illegal by NY state real estate land lord tenant law. Your front desk clerk Josanique was very kind, but it was clearly beyond her power to remedy the state of dilapidation. I would have moved hotels but in this economy I can’t afford to give you $180 for this experience. I have reported this to Wyndham customer care and am awaiting a response (5 days later)

Just visited this facility in early April, 2025. There was NO HEAT in the hotel and the temperature was below freezing the time I was there. Space heaters were not available and when bringing this to the attention of the General Manager, he explained that the HVAC system was old and not working. I asked for and was assured that a credit / refund would be made to my account. Now, after one full week has passed, the refund has NOT been provided.
