InterContinental New York Times Square an IHG Hotel

Overall our stay was okay. The biggest pro was definitely the location. The hotel is only a few blocks away from Broadway/times square and the subway station is just outside so the whole of NYC is within easy reach. Another pro was the cleanliness of the room, we couldn't have asked for more on this really. The doormen were friendly too. Unfortunately, there were a couple of cons that brought our rating down. The first was that the hotel took a a large safety deposit which we thought was excessive. On top of that, the hotel tried to charge us two nights in a row for charges we didn't make. This was early hours in the morning and luckily our bank declined the payments (otherwise we would have been another £500 out of pocket). When we raised this with the hotel, there was no explanation, with them simply saying it wouldn't happen again (which it did!) The reception staff could have been friendlier also. My fiance asked the hotel to prepare the room for my 30th birthday celebration, which they provided a small cheesecake for. I was happy with this, but my fiancé did expect a bit more considering the rating of this hotel. We thought that staying in a 5* hotel in THE city would have been an unforgettable stay. Unfortunately, we have stayed in better hotels, and wouldn't rush to return.

My 18-year-old daughter and I are staying here for four nights. The location couldn’t be better as we are only a short walk away from Time Square. Our room is spacious and incredibly comfortable with two good size doubles with a great view. The service has been outstanding. We have been made to feel so welcome, especially by Eddie and Jessica who have made our dining experience something to remember. We can’t recommend this hotel enough. We will definitely be back

Breakfast at Stinger on Apr 20, Easter Sunday We were waited by Eddie. He brightens our day with his positive, cheerful attitude. His service is top notched, personalized and attentive! A role model for others! We would like to commend him !

The stay was amazing. The hotel staff were so friendly and made the experience incredible. Eddie in the Stingers restaurant was so sweet and friendly. Great service he provided. This hotel has large rooms and the best in NY. We would stay here again for sure.

When we go to NYC we always stay at the Intercontinental Times Square because the rooms are modern and comfortable. When we used points previously for our stays the hotel always waived the so called "amenity" fee since I am a Diamond Ambassador member. This time they told me they now will no longer will remove the amenity fee of $35 night except for Royal Ambassador members. This means the "free" breakfast for Diamonds is no longer free its just covered by the amenity fee. There are no other benefits for Diamond members. I hate to do it but it looks like I'll use Hyatt hotels since they do not charge any fees when using points.
