Stayed here via a great last-minute deal on Hotel Tonight app. Rooms are small but very comfortable, clean, and the beds felt big and plush. Great if you don't care much for amenities. I also stayed at a much more expensive NYC boutique hotel for one night and the beds were far worse quality, so thumbs up for this place!

Well, the location is great. Thatās about it for positives. Thereās a $25 per day fee for amenities, but there are absolutely no amenities. There are no phones in the room, so itās impossible to call the front desk to ask for toilet paper, towels, or whatever you may need since they are rarely restocked. There is no daily housekeeping. In the five days I was there, I tried calling the front desk on my cell phoneā¦my calls were never answered. The breakfast is pretty typical Holiday Inn low-end, but the breakfast area is totally overcrowded and unmanageable. It is impossible to eat breakfast there.

We arrived around 8pm after getting off of an international flight. We were checked in by Terry who couldn't have been more helpful if he tried. After a long journey it was great to be welcomed by such a helpful member of staff, so, management, if you are reading this, please praise him! It was CLEARLY explained to us by Terry about the nightly city tax charges etc, it works in at around $29 per night. Terry also explained there would be a separate pending charge which was around $50 - This went back on to our card around a week after we returned to the UK. So, we had no issues with charges the way other guests have, however, it is important to note that nightly city tax charges ARE NOT REFUNDABLE. I know numerous guests are complaining that the hotel are holding on to their cash, but are they aware the nightly city tax fees are not refundable? When checking in, we had an issue with one of our UK bank cards - The contactless option didn't seem to be working but it was fine when using chip and pin. There are complimentary sweets at reception, free bottles of water (1 per guest/per day) and a help yourself coffee counter during the day. There is also a microwave for guest use. At the front of the hotel there are patio seats, one side you can smoke in, the other side is a smoke free area. This was great for us as we both vape. It was nice to sit there with a tea/coffee in the morning in a closed in area and not be standing out on the street to vape. We gathered here at the end of the day too, it became a routine and we ended up chatting to other guests. The hotel is pet friendly and we seen a few cute doggies with their winter jackets on, coming and going from the hotel. The lifts are secure access, so you can only move up the floors if you have a room key which is great for guest safety. There are also chips, sodas, big bottles of water in comparison to the free ones and confectionery available at reception for purchase. There was a sign for room service, but I'm unsure if this related to breakfast only, we didn't use this unfortunately. Our room was on the 15th floor and was immaculately clean. The bed was SUPER comfortable and the bathroom was nice and spacious. The housekeeping staff visited daily and were very friendly. There were a few days where we had our ''do not disturb'' sign on our door as we planned to sleep late on some days, and despite getting a little note under the door explaining our room wouldn't be cleaned as we remained in the room after the time of the housekeepers being on our floor, they still offered to nip in and give the room a quick once over when we were heading out for the day. The housekeeping staff were well presented and very friendly and done a grand job. It was nice to come back to a tidy room after a long day exploring the city. One evening we unfortunately had an issue with the flush on our toilet, we contacted reception and within an hour or so a maintenance engineer arrived and fixed this within 15 minutes. We are very deep sleepers, so street noise did not appear to be an issue for us nor did hallway noise. There is a coffee machine in each room but we preferred using the self serve coffee stand in the lobby as this was better. The TV has many channels and we always found something to watch in the evenings after being out and about. Breakfast is on offer from 0630hrs until 1000hrs. There are great options, hot and cold. Hot options tended to be turkey sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy, fried potatoes. Each day the egg option would change, from scrambled, to fried, to mini cheese omelettes. There is also fruit, yoghurt, pastries , bagels, bread and muffins. There is definitely something for everyone. The breakfast area gets very busy, we found that going for breakfast around 0700hrs was the perfect time, as we were up super early anyway to fit in all of our planned activities. There were a few days as I mentioned previously that we slept late and the seating area was packed, so we collected some breakfast and return to our room to have it - Breakfast in bed! The hotel is in a great location. There is a 7/11 around the corner for any late night nibbles. Whilst this is nothing to do with the hotel, please take care with the males who hang around the entrance to the 7/11, they were always intoxicated and would cat call etc. Lots of food options nearby, whether that be a restaurant or a cheap pizza slice. You are around a 10 minute walk to Penn Station and a 20 minute walk to Times Square. Terry organised us a late check out of 2pm (free of charge!) on the day we were flying back to the UK, our flight was at 7PM so this was extremely helpful to get a few extra hours of relaxing before starting the journey home. There was an option for the hotel to store our luggage until midnight on the day of check out if we required it, but we didn't have to make use of this. All in all a wonderful stay. It was worrying to see so many negative reviews, and I don't know why there are so many, perhaps people are booking this hotel expecting it to be extremely high class, but I can assure you it was high class for the price we paid. We won't be back to NYC for a long time, but when we do manage to return, we hope this hotel is still here for us to return to. I will be recommending this hotel to anyone who asks me where to stay when they come to NYC. Thanks for a great stay.
