We stayed in the top-floor suite at the Fairfield Inn New York Manhattan/Fifth Avenue, and honestly—it was a vibe. The room had personality: a huge elongated shower, a massive balcony with jaw-dropping views of Manhattan (just look at the photos), and a random crash exit door that had an “EXIT” sign above it… but could not be opened. Quirky, but kind of fun in that New York way. The room was a little dated—some cracked lampshades here and there, a few rough edges—but nothing that made it feel rundown. Overall, it was clean, spacious (by NYC standards), and the views alone made it worth it. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was your standard Fairfield fare—nothing fancy, but appreciated. However, the breakfast room is freezing. It feels like an atrium, and in January, we were practically chattering our teeth while eating. Definitely bring a jacket or plan to take your food back to your room. Would I stay again? Absolutely—but I would probably eat breakfast in a coat.

Rooms look old and worn out. Scrape marks all over the walls and furniture. Half of my outlets didn't work, I couldn't see out of my peephole because it was blurred. There was no suitcase caddy, so I had to put suitcase on top of desk. I did have a nice view of the Empire State Building. Breakfast was decent to be included but the room where it's served is freezing so I ate in my room. Check in was quick but learned there's not gym on the premises. Option is to pay for a day pass at a chain gym a few blocks away and the hotel will reimburse you. I didn't do this because the gym closes at 5 on Saturdays and not open on Sundays. On my checkout day (I had a late 4pm checkout) I went to take a shower around noon and the water was cold. I ran it for a while and it became ice cold. I called the front desk to see what was going on and to see if there was a possibility of go to another room to shower. I was told they would check with maintenance to see what issue was. An hour later I heard nothing back so I called the front desk again and was told the boiler went and there no hot water in the building. I had a dinner to attend and needed to shower so I was forced to go uptown to another hotel a friend was staying at to shower there. Such an inconvenience and when I check out there was no "I'm sorry there's no hot water" or even an effort to give me points or anything. As a lifetime titanium Marriott member, this was an unacceptable stay. I'm happy that it was just a 24 hour stay because I would be miserable if I had booked this hotel for a few days. Location is a good midtown location, but there's plenty of better options in the area for around the same rate.

This place is just ok. The only thing it has going for it is the staff especially Keisha and Ken. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Hotel itself is very basic with no amenities. No fridge or microwave in room. Not even a luggage rack. The room is very small. Nowhere to put your stuff. Closet space was taken up by the iron board. The elevators are very slow and housekeeping use the same elevator. Location is great, in between Herald Square and Bryant Park. Short walk to Times Square and Penn station. Subway nearby. I probably wouldn't stay here again because of the room

Not a bad hotel. The location is great, the breakfast is good and the rooms are comfortable. However, they need to be more flexible with check in/out hours. I understand their policies but passengers like myself didn’t necessarily feel comfortable while having to wait 4 hours for the room to be ready upon arrival (with my passports and cash on hand) and needing to shower after a 10 hour flight. Same with the check out. My flight was leaving late night and they only gave me one extra hour to check out. This was not enough because it made my wait at the airport seem eternal. Had to request room service many times because the room was either not cleaned or equipped enough. I have stayed in this hotel before but don’t remember my experience being this stressful. Not sure if I’ll return now.

Good location, decent breakfast and good customer service. The room itself was not great. The TV didn’t work, ac unit was not blowing cold air and the room was tiny, even by NY standards. Needs updating and needs more attention to detail when cleaning the bathroom. I won’t be returning on my next trip to the city.
