My wife and I stayed ten nights at the Hilton Garden Inn, Long Island City (as part of a package with British Airways) having chosen it over several other hotels on Manhattan and Queens. We’re glad we did – it was great! Shavon Mobley was on the desk when we checked in and she was incredible, a really friendly face after a long flight from the UK! We got a great room – 1113 – high floor, no street noise and a view through the adjacent buildings to Manhattan. There was a Keurig pod coffee machine, microwave and decent size fridge. All worked perfectly and we got extra coffee pods when we asked for them from the Reception team. The A/C worked well: cool when you wanted it and warm when you didn’t. The TV was great too, with lots of news, sport and film channels. The room was hoovered, bed made and towels changed every second day. The bed was enormous and comfortable, cozy pillows etc. The shower was huge and worked perfectly. The hotel is immediately next to Queen’s Plaza station and Queensboro Plaza is slightly further away. Both were very handy to make our way about New York. We took the Q66 bus to Flushing one day. We also walked over the Ed Koch Bridge a few times on the combined cycleway/footpath. It was a nice way to get into Manhattan, straight onto 59th Street and Central Park. Watch out for the cyclists on the paths just outside the hotel though – not all of them respect the pedestrian crossings! Once you get to Jackson Avenue (about 100 yards) you meet all the shops, pubs, restaurants and diners. We shopped at City Acres for most of our food stuff, although Hudson Food Market is closer (but a bit more expensive). We ate at Court Square Diner three times (ā€˜cos it was great and really authentic) and went to Focal Point Beer Co and Fifth Hammer taprooms. There is also Finback brewery taproom about 50 feet from the hotel. Also the NYC Ferry, Gantry State Park and Pepsi Cola sign too – these give you the best possible view of the Manhattan skyline. Lots of great options within easy reach. We were out and about pretty much every day, doing something in the immediate area or slightly further afield – the Hilton Garden Inn was a great base for our NY adventure! We checked out at 12, as requested, and Hilton Garden Inn (Shavon again!) stored our bags until we were ready to travel. We got the E train to Jamaica then the AirTrain to JFK – much cheaper and easier than a taxi and easy enough (although they’re refurbishing the lifts at Queen’s Plaza station so we had to use the steps). A thoroughly enjoyable time and really recommended. We will definitely come back to Long Island City and Hilton Garden Inn!

I write this review with so much disappointment! I will start with…. PROS: Location is good. Outside Manhattan but not too far. If you have a problem or request ONLY ask for Melanie..she is a diamond for that hotel! Melanie is a true guest relation agent and credit to the brand! The day before leaving after a 5night stay it was bittersweet we met Melanie at end of the trip. She tried to help by gifting a care package and complimentary items. But the holiday was over :-( CONS: Whole hotel dated. Dusty. You only have full room clean every 4th day. Stains on carpets large and disgusting. Old sweets/food found under bed, clearly they don’t hoover thoroughly. Room entry lock kept dropping off, walls thin, felt like someone in our room all day long, my room requests ignored and then promised help but that was not followed through. I requested room away from noisy lift or staircase, so they decided placing me next to the linen closet and lift was a good option! How Silly!!! All day long we could hear staff in linen room, banging around, gossiping, doors slamming, I wouldn’t stay here again I’ve stayed in much better Hilton hotels. Not impressed!!

This hotel is a good sport with two very close subway stops. If the 7 is running, it takes you right to GCS. There are some decent places to eat and the Pepsi sign is not far. The pillows were a little thin but other than that, the room was fairly quiet for NYC. The service was fine and if we needed anything, the staff was able to supply it.

"My recent stay at the Hilton was nothing short of exceptional! From the moment I checked in, the staff was warm and welcoming. They went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable, offering helpful tips about local attractions. The room was immaculate, and the amenities were top-notch. Their washing machine and dyers in hotel. There’s a microwave and a refrigerator in your room and the train station is across the street and there’s a bus that’ll take you straight to Manhattan
